Excuse me. Please do not belittle what you think to be my baseball acumen. My statement was basically the waters are very muddied about who comes back and how effective they may or may not be. I stated I'm not for going risk another year of CBT penalties for a rental and furthur depleting our farm system. Did not the CBT cost us a comp pick for Bregs this year. What I want and what is logical are two vastly different things Expand my comment and read what I highlighted that you stated. You can f off with that demeaning shitt bro.
IMO resetting the CBT is an even bigger priority than reinforcing this roster. And yes, basically take all money remaining on contract and divide by time remaining to get new AAV. So for a back loaded contract, the new team gets a higher AAV even in the current pro-rated season. Still pro-rated, just from a higher amount.
Thats a bit aggressive and insulting. Completely uncalled for. I apologize for posting that as a response to your post. That was my mistake. It was in response to the idea of selling, or even standing pat, but not directed at you. I certainly have no reason to doubt your baseball acumen or have any opinion about it. My post was written to "We" and "you" (plural, not an individual) meaning all Astro fans, not a specific person. I am sorry for triggering you, but calm the F down, please. We are all just Astto fans who have opinions and love to talk about our ream.
The phrse, despite what you think you know, isn't personal? I must have slept through that part of English class. Used to think you were a cool and knowledgeable individual. I didn't start by insulting you as you did me. So if I insulted you, we'll take a look at your own words.
This isn’t my battle and obviously this is just my opinion…but I don’t see how you took his post as demeaning. He literally started the comment off by saying “we” and all he is saying is our recent success has made many Astros fans (you included) believe this is the normal - that we will always be battling for a bye in the playoffs. Nothing is guaranteed though - we might not get this good of a chance again. Just look at teams like the Braves and Orioles this season. And I’ll further his point by saying the AL is as weak as it’s ever going to be. Are you really that scared of Toronto and Detroit? Based on your opinion, you obviously don’t think we are right in saying we should be aggressive. That’s fine. This is a message board - you’re supposed to argue about the Astros. Nothing he said was personal.
There is no right or wrong. It's all opinion. Not always going to agree on everything and that's all good. Remember I did not anywhere in this statement to you say despite what you think you know. How about him saying despite what you think. Instead of despite what you think you know. Two completely different meaning. Got no beef with you. It's all good
Now that I've had a moment to think: Hader-Wagner is a push but I'd lean Hader Abreu > Dotel Lidge > Rando So which is the better back end? I have no clue at all.
As I said. "You" was plural addressed to Astro fans in general. I can see how and why you took it as personal and an insult. I apologize for that. However, my entire post was plural in nature, talking about all Astro fans and not any individual. You mentioned English class. Surely you know that "you" can be either singular or plural? I can't control how you interpret something, whether your interpretation is reasonable or not. But I do acknowledge my error. If I could do it over I would. As for you no longer thinking I'm knowledgeable or cool. Sorry to disappoint you but I couldn't care less. Other people's opinions of me don't have any power over me. Hopefully we can have positive and respectful interactions in the future - or just put me on ignore. I won't lose any sleep either way. But I will say, that if any Astros fan is considering selling that is a very very stupid idea right now.
It's all good. But please tell me where I said to sell. I believe we need to ride this out, and what happens happens. If everyone comes back and lights it up, we have as much of a chance as anyone. If they come back and it doesn't happen for us, we are a year out of CBT. With that and money coming off the books in the off-season, I'm more optimistic for next year.
I'll take the "L" on that. When I got defensive over the aggressive post directed at me, I forgot that you merely talked about not buyer, rather than selling. That is absolutely on me. I still think not buying is a very poor decision . There is a chance it must be maximized.
I just don't see anyone out there on the offensive side that we can aquire that moves the needle and does not put us back in CBT hell and costs us prospects to boot. Despite what you think you know. See what I did there.
Someone can correct me if I’m wrong here but I don’t think trading for Willi Castro would put us into the tax. His cost isn’t going to be high. You don’t think he would help this team?
