I too think Carlos would jump at the chance.
Problem is Carlos is not the GM or owner of the Twins

Would be nice to see a move to improve the team, but come guys....even if nothing happens, we're still 1 1/2 games away from having the best record in the AL. And that's after having half the team on the IL and having the worst month of the season. Nothing to be depressed about...

I stand ready to help accommodate all of these things, as necessary.

I don't know how you can say an offer is ridiculous without knowing what's on the other side of the deal.

What if the Astros asked for Correa and Minnesota asked for a good cost-controlled MLB talent in return - maybe they wanted Paredes back, since Correa would be playing 3B for us for the foreseeable future and Paredes is a younger, cheaper talent. Or what if they wanted Bryan Abreu back to replace Duran. Maybe they wanted some sort of valuable prospects.

I'm not saying those were the requests, just that we can't know whether it was an unreasonable request based on one reported side of the deal. What I am almost certain of, is someone on the Twins side leaked that, possibly to squeeze the Astros into making a better offer. It's just one side's PR effort at manipulation.

huh? Based on what? I love the Astros as much as anyone here, but we pretty unquestionably have the worst medical staff in all of sports, whether it’s transparency, rehab, and especially when it comes to projecting expected return dates.

I won’t say I’m doom and gloom as there is a lot of time left for something to happen. What I don’t want to see is leadership overplay their hand when the AL is so wide open. Almost a third of their wins this year have come of one run games.

I would like to see them compete. This team and the manager has done their job with everything that has been thrown at them. It’s time for leadership to help give them a chance to win it all. It takes a lot of luck to win it all.

    Dear A.I.,
Has the trade deadline always ended at 6 PM EST?

Used to be midnight EST. That was always fun - but it makes for bad TV/news so they moved it up. Pretty recently, too - the first Verlander deal - granted it was when they had two deadlines - was a midnight acquisition.

Even if we add a month to these projections...
    https://www.mlb.com/news/astros-injuries-and-roster-moves

Plus, we already know that Pena is on a flight to Boston today. Javier and Arrighetti should be with the team within 10 days. The team is not a juggernaut, but will be competitive. Plus, despite the injuries, the team has a top 2 record against teams with winning records.

Twins only have 3 guaranteed contracts for next season:

    Correa $32.8M
    Pablo Lopez $21.8M
    Byron Buxton $15.1M

Lopez is currently injured, and Buxton has a NTC he has said he will not waive. If the Twins are under a mandate to trim future payroll commitments, trading Correa is their only option. And the Astros are the only team they can trade Correa to. If they ate $50M of his remaining money, the Twins would be left with only $53M in total commitments for 2026.

if you are pinning the Astros chances to win it all on health, that’s a losing bet. By a long shot.

You mean refreshing and posting on this site for 24 straight hours isn't being productive?

Never mind my boss just said it isn't.

Here's the elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about. If Yordan comes back this season (and it's a big if) there's a good chance his power is gone and he's the same player he was back in April.
