The other thing is, how motivated is Cc going to be to stay in Minn? The team is for sale, they already traded Duran, who knows what else goes out the door. They won't be buyers in the offseason with the sale. Correa could easily ask for a trade then. I just don't see CC in Minnesota past this season.
Correa makes sense if you get him relatively cheap because Minnesota wants him off the books. Correa does not make sense in an “empty the farm system” type deal. Love Carlos, but out on him if we are gonna have to lose the top prospects from our already barren system.
Well, even if nothing happens, I'm not getting much done today. Excited to depressed to hopeful to refresh
And they flat out lied to him about continuing to spend to put a winning team around him, to get him to sign.
Yeah, I just picture Preller in his office with a large supply of blow calling every team and offering the most ridiculous trades. Half of the trades he makes don't even make sense.
I’m sure the worst case scenario is a last minute pivot to a cheap rental RP. But until the timer goes off there’s still a chance. It’s almost certain Alcantara and Cease will be traded so Houston should be in the mix.
I actually disagree. As is we cannot win it all and are likely looking at a playoff exit. If that’s the case we may as well sell. It’s not the tasteful thing to do given where we are in the standings, but standing pat is not the wisest option IMO. Of course, that all hinges on what deals are available, on the buying and selling side. But we cannot compete with tier 1 teams with our roster as depleted as it is, unless we just want to leave it to the October gods and see what happens
Yup - I picture him hunkering down in some hotel room by the Mexico border, ordering a couple of prostitutes, a dozen pizzas - shooting crystal meth in his thigh and snorting $25,000 in blow with a huge lap top and a carton of Marlboro reds while he scans the internet for players to trade for. No doubt the Soto deal when he gave up his entire top 3 farm system was at the tail end of a week long bender.
Unfortunately, I don't see a silver bullet out there, would love to have CC back from what I have seen from a previous poster, if I am the Twins I don't do that deal at this point either. I think we are who we are and were just going to wait on the Calvary and from a business standpoint I get it, we have the talent, there just not all available and to overpay for the short term isn't smart. I think it would be a different story if we were 3-5 games back, but at this point I just hope we can play .500 until the roster gets some help The Twins are interesting though, there being sold and CC isn't going to do anything special there.............I would "think" he would jump at the chance to be in Houston again and man I would love to have him back but it doesn't look like it's in the cards
This isn't inside information but I don't get all the doom and gloom for the Astros deadline - there are still a lot of players out there that will be traded.
