Too much evidence to the contrary. It's fair to say he can't stay he can't stay healthy. Not fair to say he only hit because of trash cans
Since he can’t pitch anymore, approving the trade would be the best way he can help and be buried in the H. I mean what’s the difference, don’t pitch in Minny or don’t pitch in Houston?
What do you all base this on? Correa's best season was his last with the Astros, when he led baseball in WAR at 7.5 and last year he had an OPS of over .900.... if anything, injuries are what has kept Correa from being a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Yup, worst kept secret in baseball. The Astros are skeptical he will be ready for the regular season and there are mobility issues possible as well. He could possibly end up at 1st base.
I have had these thoughts too, but both purposes (creating leverage with other teams and giving fans the “we tried” excuse) would have been better served by narratives around Houston being involved in other players who actually will be traded (Suarez, Castro, etc.).
Also, we shouldn't discount odds being improved, even if it's just a little bit. That matters. Games are won/lost by the thinnest of margins - any way to increase your chances is a good thing. The Astros do not win the WS in '17 without Justin Verlander.
Bravo. Thats a top notch troll !! You realize that Correa had wRC+ of 136 and 123 before Beltran rejoined the team? Since 2021 he has a career wRC+ of 124 which is better than Trey Turner, Francisco Lindor, Dante Bichette and countless others. And, yes, that counts current year stats. Last year, he has a career high, 155 and he is still only 30. Since May 1st, its 114 Since June 1st its 103 Since July 1st its 118. If you want to worry about something, worry about his health, but not his bat. He WILL hit. And. FTR I think returning to an enthusiastic, winning environment and moving off of the demands of SS cause a huge rise in both production and health. #2161
Gonna be awful tough to find a place for all 3 of Altuve, Paredes, and Yordan over 2026-2027. But that’s a “Future Astros Rosters” problem.
I only said two things, it’s not a popular take among the Astros faithful, and that the thought has crossed my mind.
We really need to stop advocating for the team to pack it in and give up on a season in which they lead their division. Certainly not ideal - but it's not as if the lead was virtue of a fully-healthy roster and they've lost multiple starters the last week. It's been a season-long issue and here we are. If you can throw Framber and Brown 4 times in a playoff series, you can win that playoff series. I'll be straight-up furious if the Astros punt on the season.
We would fix Cease for another team (FA that we won't re-sign). We fix Alacantra we at least could have him for possibly two more years. Also, SA has pitched better the last two months, Cease looked horrible in July (and is in one of the best pitchers parks in the league).
We are so snake-big this year. Reminds me of the Texans. Part of me thinks we should not go for it given the depleted nature of our current roster….but the AL is wide open and we are at the tail end of this miraculous championship crescendo. All evidence on Crane suggests he will push his chips all in before the expected labor halt and possibly let another owner of GM clean up the mess thereafter.
The worst tongue lashing that Luhnow got from Crane were 2016 and 2017 trade deadlines because he didn't do anything in 2016 and almost nothing in 2017 until the second deadline let him get Verlander. Click was heavily scrutinized by Crane for his deadline dealings and failing to land Rodon and other players. Crane loves stars, and he loves the idea of loading up at the deadline. Luhnow didn't have his unconditional trust until the Verlander deal and World Series, and Click never had it in part because of how he approached trades at the deadline. There is no way that the Astros let their local media run with stories unless they realistically believe that they can get Correa or will get someone else that is very good. Could the situation have changed? Possibly, the Astros got sick of the Padres asking for more and more players for Cease - so maybe something changed in Minnesota, but we don't know yet.
Agreed - and I am sure that they are going to hope that Paredes can play third or second, and he is a smart player and hard worker - so maybe it works out, but if it doesn't, he likely finds himself at 1st at some point.
Certainly that’s the counter argument. And if you have plenty of farm chips to trade away then I get doing it. But for me it doesn’t always make much sense.
Reasonable. I guess I'm the only one who thinks its ridiculous that it would cross anyone's mind. Well except Yankees and Dodgers fan. I could see it crossing their minds. There is too much evidence to the contrary for most others to even consider. But that's just my view. I need to realize not everyone thinks like me. My apologies if you took the "troll" comment as negative.
