I don't think the Astros would include Caratini AND Dubon in a deal for Cease Losing Dubon would lessen the advantage of getting Castro. We have too many non mlb quality players on the roster already I could see Melton and Caratini for Cease and a lotto ticket ML. Or Melton and one of our LH Relievers I also think that is too light for Ryan, but i'm higher on his value than most on here
I jumped off that train last night seeing his velo down 2.2 MPH. It was down 4-5 MPH his last inning of work.
so how often are you right when it comes to the trade deadline? I would be thrilled if this happened.
SH*T I've been banging the drum for him for a couple of weeks. Pretty good return for him, equivalent for us would be something like Kevin Alvarez and Jaworski
I am no insider. I would say I am better than most casual fans at predicting this kind of stuff but by no means should my prediction or opinion carry any weight.
I watched this podcast and while I do think Rome was being honest when he was saying he thought it was unlikely, they didn’t address any of the glaring reasons to think it is happening: Why Houston would publicly confirm the interest, going so far as to have their beat reporter post an article about it on the official site. Why the discussions were clearly to the point of the Twins asking Correa if he would waive his no trade clause. Why Correa did not directly refute the possibility of the trade, when he is the one in control of it happening or not. It is NOT normal for a team to approach a player about waiving their no-trade unless the trade is very close to being agreed upon. Why the Twins front office would not publicly reject the possibility or likelihood of Correa being traded. If you don’t intend to trade him, you do NOT want the highest paid most popular player on your team having to address trade rumors.
This is nothing more than a hunch and intuition, but I feel like it is going to come down to how much money Crane will be willing to take on.
If it doesn’t happen it’s because of the money. I don’t see any chance we take on his full contract and I would imagine the amount we are asking them to eat is significant.
If the Correa deal happens, it’s because the Twins are willing to eat a ton of his salary, like the Astros made the Mets do when they brought Verlander back. That is ultimately what makes or breaks that trade. I would expect one of Castro, Mullins or Correa to be Astros tomorrow along with a starting pitcher. He’s rightfully not getting much interest because he has been terrible this season, but if the Diamondbacks would give away Zac Gallen for a song, I could see the Astros brain trust thinking they could fix him. Merrill Kelly is also a free agent to be that is pitching well. If the Padres will take Melton as a centerpiece in a Cease deal, sign me up. If it costs Yainer Diaz, Preller can kick rocks.
I was really hoping we would have a trade or two finalized by now. I don’t like our chances of trying to fill 4 holes (3B, LH bat, SP3, RHP) all on the very last day.
Seems like the NL teams are the only ones who have been aggressive so far. AL leaders have done pretty much nothing outside of the Mariners adding Naylor.
