Wouldn’t surprise me at all if this was the hangup on Correa, either they’re legit trying to get Castro included, or the Twins have the Correa trade on hold so they can tell the Mariners they’re bidding against the Astros for Castro.
So Rendon will never see the field again and he still has a full major league contract. Take the L, bro. Take the L.
Correa man- it’s too good too be true. If we get Correa we are going over the CBT, obviously. This would be a deadline I’d be pretty happy with: In: JV, Cease, Mullins, Correa, Castro, Ryan, 40M Out: Chas, Whitcomb, Melton, Caratini, Alexander, Gordon, Blubaugh, Matthews, Dubon Arrighetti, Ullola. Something like: JV plus 5M for Alexander + Chas or whitcomb Cease for Melton, Caratini and Dubon Mullins for Blubaugh + Chas or whitcomb Correa, Castro, Ryan, 35M for Gordon, Arrighetti, Ullola, Matthews 2025 playoff lineup based upon who I think is coming back: Diaz, Walker, Castro, Pena, Correa, Altuve, Mullins, Smith, Alvarez Bench- , Salazar, Trammell, Short, Corona Wildcard- Meyers, Dezenzo. Framber, Brown, Ryan, Cease Pen- Hader, Abreu, Javier, JV, Walter, Garcia, Sousa, King, Okert, Wildcards- Dubin, you lose JV, Cease, Mullins, Castro off that roster at the end of the year. 2026: Diaz, Walker, Paredes, Pena, Correa, Altuve, Meyers, Smith, Alvarez Bench- Salazar, Dezenzo, Short, Trammel starters: Brown, Ryan, Javier, Garcia, Walter, Swing- gusto Pen- Hader, Abreu, Dubin, Sousa, Okert, King, who cares. that’s the favorite to win the AL in 2025 and a 90-100 win team in 26 depending upon health and development. they don’t miss much after 26 headed into 27 either.
Jesus, you are gonna be one depressed Astros fan tomorrow at 5 PM central. I'll venture to guess we only get one of those players. Mullins or Castro. And that's even a 50/50 proposition.
I mean- I know all that isn’t going to happen. But it would be ****ing cool if it did and I think all the logic makes sense and the values all make sense.
I LOVED Verlander when he was good. He looked pretty washed last season and even moreso this season. I am just not sure he’s worth much more than Gordon or Gusto. I suppose if SF wants to pay all of his money and not ask for much in return, ok, he can be the SP5. But I don’t want Crane adding JV in lieu of other more viable SP. I would MUCH rather have Morton than Verlander. I still think Correa is happening. I think they will get at least 2 of these 4: a 3B (likely Correa), a rental LH bat (Castro or Mullins the favorites), a SP3 (Cease in the lead among others), and a rental setup man. Should be a fun day tomorrow.
Wouldn't be a lot of reasons for Framber to do so. For guys playing in California but not planning on living there after their career is over, there are massive tax implications for signing those deals. With no state income tax, the advantages aren't there for the players here That isn't to say Framber wouldn't do something like that if the offer was right though
Correa: I agree it's probably more than 50/50 it happens. Once the news broke publicly today, makes it a little tougher to not move him, and we are the only place he would agree to go Verlander: I don't think SF could get more than a Gusto/Gordon for him from anyone at this point. If that is the only cost, it shouldn't impact other deals. If we pick up a #3 guy and Verlander for the 5th spot, that still leaves a spot for Arrighetti and another to stack Javier/Garcia if we wanted to as a 6th starter for the regular season. Agree he is mostly washed, but we are throwing guys out there right now that bring nothing at all to the table
It would be pretty insane if Houston were able to rob 2 other teams of their better known players because both guys have no-trade clauses and only agree to go to Houston. There’s a plausible scenario where Twins ownership has told the GM to dump all salary damn the cost and Crane knows it. Very excited to see the terms of that trade if it actually happens.
Yea if we are trying to get Castro and a SP (Ryan/Ober/Lopez) added into the deal, Minnesota likely will keep fielding offers of the other to weigh against our overall offer, and both sides probably have a good framework of just a Correa deal in place if it can't be expanded
