Sounds like a Pop Warner team when they have the one freak athlete kid who can catch and no one can outrun.
I missed on the Texans taking Ladd McConkey last year who had a monster year for the Chargers.....Higgins and Nico Collins are going to be a problem for the league for years to come.
Golden, Williams, Bond, Higgins and Horton were the best separators available . Bond took himself further away to street free agent with his life choices. And the Texans could have easily traded up to acquire Golden. So I think they liked Higgins just as much or more than Golden. There is speculation they were still wanting to trade up after their top OL prospects had been taken. "My understanding was that there were two teams both trying to trade up: It was the Texans and the Rams," Pelissero said. "And the moment the Bucs surprised everybody by taking Emeka Egbuka, the receiver from Ohio State, the calls stopped. Those teams were calling all the teams above them and all of a sudden the calls stopped. So that's the belief that Egbuka was the guy." https://sports.yahoo.com/article/re...uB4SQigVOEOElYhMDQkFW2J1bNo_ddQepN5pE6DJaDRe5 Deconstructing the Meco WR board 1.Egbuka 2. Higgins. 3. Noel/ Williams Happy they opted for two WRs with the first 3 picks. It was the only way to go after Banks was taken
After watching every single play, count me VERY happy with this selection. Not saying Higgins will become the same player, but the comparisons to Nico are appropriate. He presents a big target that should be effective on 3rd down and in the red zone. For a 6'4 WR, he's a bit more nifty than Nico at dodging, cutting and making people miss after catching short passes. He does get separation downfield, but his college QB (like so many college QBs) underthrows the ball sometimes. I give Nick an "A" here.
