The FCL squad had another come-from-behind win today as they scored 5 runs in the top of the 9th to beat the Mets 9-8.

Juan Sierra went 3-4 with an RBI single. Andrews Sosa kicked off the big 9th inning with a two-run triple. Anthony Huezo went 2-5 with a stolen base and scored a run, and German Ramirez drove in the go-ahead run with a groundout.

Roiner Quintana, who is normally an outfielder, closed out the win on the mound for the second straight day.

Looks like Alberto Hernandez was moved back up to Fayetteville from the FCL, swapping out with Reylin Perez.

Raimy Rodriguez finished a 5-4 Fayetteville win with five no-hit innings. He did not walk anyone (but he did hit a batter) and struck out eight.

Jancel Villarroel went 2-4 with an RBI double, and Max Holy doubled, scored twice, and stole a base.

Lucas Spence went 2-4 with a two-run triple in his Asheville debut. Matthew Linskey was the first reliever out of the Tourists bullpen, and he allowed a hit while striking out two over 2.2 scoreless innings.

That truck driver panicked for sure. But Ochoa's taken everything in stride and I'm glad to see his long road to recovery is complete.

Wow. Crazy story. Impressive reaction by a young kid. I have high hopes for him.

Spence just hit his first Asheville home run (also his first of the season), a three-run blast that's put the Tourists in the lead.

John Garcia's first home run of the year was a three-run shot for Corpus.

I'm pretty concerned about that team because the position players look like they've Peter principled themselves in the early going.

The Corpus position player roster is awful. I also wonder how they’re being coached because even guys who don’t usually strike out much are striking out at uncompetitive rates. Hopefully they get Baez back soon along with maybe a couple of good players promoted because they are as bad of a AA lineup as I’ve ever seen right now.

Holy ****. When they said he had been involved in a car accident. I was picturing him getting rear ended or like a fender bender. Not a deleted scene from " Final Destination". Glad the kid is alright.

Another free agent signing popped up:

RHP Cody Tucker was signed on Monday and joined Asheville yesterday. He comes from the Giants, who released him on April 29.

Tucker signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Grand Canyon University after the 2023 draft. He made five appearances with Eugene in the High-A Northwest League, going 1-0 with a 13.50 ERA in five appearances (1 start, 6.2 IP total). Tucker struck out 82 in 64.2 innings between both Giants Class A affiliates last season.

Jagger Beck had a nice pro debut with 6k and 0bb in 4 ip. He did allow 2 HR. The rare UDFA HS player, he’s 6’6” 205 at age 18 with mid/high 90s fb. He’s not anywhere near one of Houston’s top 30 prospects yet, but he is one to watch.

Lolz. One of the things that regularly sells me on the idea that we’re just living in a simulation is the fact that there are dudes named Jagger Beck and Roilan Machandy and Max Holy.

In other news, the Astros signed another international free agent today, C Habemus Papam.

How does someone with that size and fastball go undrafted? Character issues or something?
