    and remember, I said "With all due respect"

    ...that's asinine. You "suppose it's barely possible, mathematically"? They could make it up next week...when it's still May. Bigger leads than that have been eliminated in much shorter time than still having nearly 70% of the season to play.

    The wins count exactly the same. I'd argue the psychological benefit to catching the Mariners now after how the season started would be pretty consequential and you could therefore make the argument this series is the season's most important.

    Ok. It’s still May.

    I’m sure Seattle felt all ***** and giggles last year when they swept the Astros at MMP (dominated them) in August. They got the full psychological benefit.

    If he requires Tommy John surgery his career is very possibly over. A fringey guy like that, he gets non-tendered then has to work his way back on a minor league deal. Maybe he’d work a 2 year deal with the Astros to rehab and come back in 2026 but I don’t know why Houston would do that.
