Vlad is somewhat comparable to Bryce Harper with the fluctuation in production between seasons. Bruce has showed less 'up-and-downness' but the element has existed his entire career. Vlad still has plenty to prove, but he's young with seemingly very good potential. Spoiler
Jose Altuve's special AL MVP-contending season is getting lost https://climbingtalshill.com/posts/...-getting-lost-in-astros-downfall-01hx7h1e8v2n
But Vlad Jr's seasons are: Great Good OK This is a slugger? Each one worse than the previous. No up and down. Just down and down and down I do understand the age 25 part though. Also, no way he deserved a gold glove.
If Trout can win an MVP despite being on the Angels, Altuve deserves his own... but we know Olney, Passan, and the LA/NY brigade won't let that happen.
It’s not good but honestly France probably doesn’t have a role right now outside of long relief. I’d rather them spin the wheels on Blubaugh than see France again if it came to it.
I feel like some other teams need some more injuries . . . never wish injuries on people, but this is getting laughable.
It sucks for J.P. but from a strictly baseball point of view he's replaceable. And Javier isn't currently active so is #6 Unless he has a setback or there is another injury to one of JV, Framber, or Blanco, or to BOTH of Brown and Arrighetti all is good.
While I agree we wont be sellers, this ballclub is too good? Yea right Dana, the Astros are so f***ing good right now.
Why did you respond this? Vlad had worse seasons prior to his great one... just like Harper in his early career. Then Harper fell off substantially.
Arrighetti 0-3, 8.27 era France 0-3, 7.46 era Brown 0-4, 8.89 era Bullpen meltdowns, Bregman/Abreu collapses, yada yada. To me it boils down to 3 SP not giving them a chance to win games. You can’t have 3 SP with a combined 0-10 record really at any point in the season, much less in early May. Houston had 4 quality SP unexpectedly on the IL very early in the season (Verlander, Framber, Javier, Urquidy) in addition to 2 guys expectedly on the IL). They were forced into a position to depend on their pitching depth and it let them down.
