Question... which of our starting pitchers played winter ball? Is that under consideration on innings restrictions?
Doesn't Blanco usually play in winter ball? But I think he used as a relief pitcher and not a starter.
All but Garcia have won WS games for us. That is a world series winning rotation out. You can't really have a backup plan for that but somehow we are where we are. That is what makes us the Astros. Pretty good for a team that has had a bottom 5 farm system for the last few years. We've also lost Correa, Yuli, and Brantley who were all studs with a bat.
Pitching, it is all about our starting pitching settling down. Big fan of Kuchi Koo and Ort.....now if we can just get Stressley out of the 8th.... DD
Who do they dump to make room for Whitley? Furgeson? Dubin? For reference: Since 7/3 (14 appearances): 33%/6% K/BB; 2.85 FIP.
I'm guessing he'll be one of the September call ups, with Salazar being the other. I hope before September they cut Aledmys and put Whitcomb on the 40 man roster.
Fairly safe. He just hasn’t had enough time to ramp up, hasn’t started “spring training”. There was no structural damage so he’ll start throwing again when all the inflammation/soreness is gone.
You may be correct. But the team has been on an all out sprint for like 2.5. I think all our worry is that that they run out of juice to make the playoffs, or that they just don't have enough left to win in the playoffs and at least continue the LCS streak.
Was this mentioned anywhere on these boards today? If he does well, does he leap frog Whitley on the next man up depth chart?
I can’t imagine they’ll bring him up after missing the entire year, especially with how well the bullpen is pitching. Ferguson is the only RP not pitching lights out lately and they are surely gonna give him some leash since they just traded for him and he’s not optionable. If there’s an injury or somebody gets worn down or implodes, Murfee will be in the conversation for a callup with Whitley, Junk, Contreras, Martinez, and Hernandez.
