I agree with your general point. I will give odds on the Javier deal being a net negative when it’s all said and done- I hope you are right obviously but I don’t see any surplus value there.
Imagine if the Mariners actually spent money and John Stanton cared about winning where they would be right now with their rotation. It’s hilarious seeing people bash Crane on this board.
Is it me or are the Astros getting snubbed at the ASG... (pardon me if I missed a team-wide boycott). I thought Altuve/Alvarez were voted in-- but they aren't starters...? edit: too soon... didnt realize they announced all the scrubs before the studs. real-edit: if they aint gonna play, I'm watching U.S. Women's Soccer vs Costa Rica (wowaweewa)
1) Soto getting bigger applause than Judge was surprising 2) Nolan Ryan standing on the mound wearing a Rangers uniform* 3) Yordan getting boo'd** 4) no Altuve*** 5) one of crappiest National Anthems last night**** 6) Bochy managing the game due to being champions***** * great job Astros for letting him slip away to Dallass ** expected, regardless of the game being in Dallass *** would get boo'd too, but wish he would've made the trip **** nice... Dallass has more sh*t on their toilet history ***** thanks, Dusty
To be fair, Yordan is probably injured and needs rest. Glad his OPS is 1.000 today I don't necessarily disagree, just saying, anyone who agrees with this sentiment should *not* complain about Altuve's skipped appearances.
Back to the Astros what do yall think JV real injury is? I mean a month seems like a long time for neck discomfort Yall remember when Nolan missed two months with neck discomfort?
Altuve's been there done that. Yordan had 1 AB as a DH and easily could've had his 2nd before being taken out. Would've liked to have seen it play out that way but whatevs.
Half the rosters have "been there done that" But yes, Yordan *could've* had a second AB --- it's just not anywhere near a big deal considering he's likely injured and needs rest. For all we know, Yordan/Astros may have told Bochy to only bat him once. Doesn't make sense to argue against any of this.
Was likely some form of shoulder inflammation. Needed total rest to recover. Given some of his starts prior to the injury, he was likely trying to pitch through it till he was no longer effective (indicating this was probably going on even longer).
Tucker probably had/has a broken leg. JV will likely never be healthy again this season and never throw 100 innings again in his career.
Astros have essentially boycotted the all star game... they know the spotlight on them comes every Astros League Championship Series
So far in 2024, a third (or 33.4 percent) of all plate appearances end in a strike out, a walk, or a home run.
