Realistically I think the drop from 10th to 8th worst is what we can do intentionally. Beyond that I don't think it is possible to do much. Doubling your chances of keeping the pick dropping two spots could be worth it, if it comes down to a handful of games at the end we could throw those like the Mavs did.

I don't think anyone is thinking we get a bottom 4 record, we are talking about keeping our top 4 pick. This is not a complete tank job, this is realistically dropping from 10th worst to 8th worst which would increase our odds of keeping the top 4 pick from 14% to 26.3%. You were asking why are we bothering having this conversation, this is the discussion because it is realistic to drop from 10th to 8th worst and to nearly double your odds of keeping the pick.

There's also the question of if we're just trading places with Brooklyn (a pick we're certain to keep) is that really worth it? I don't know what the math says on that.

I think it would make sense to be worse than Brooklyn because it increases the chances we get to keep our pick instead of sending to OKC and still get the brooklyn pick although that one could drop lower and we could still not get our pick back from OKC. I kind of like the idea of rolling the dice to get the OKC pick back.
