Why? They invested high draft capital in McCarthy. After these last two weeks there’s no way they are going to bring Darnold back.
If this happens, I'll never watch ESPN again. Watching Dodgeball on the Ocho? Talking about Deion English FA Cup early round game between Tranmere Rovers and Wycombe? 85 of the 90 minutes will be about Deion. Cornhole National Championships? Deion's face will be on the boards.
I changed my mind and agree with you. This "so long Sam, nice knowin' ya" from Kevin O'Connell says it all.
You never know. Depends on the deal he is willing to sign and if they get offered anything good for JJ. 7 of the top 11 picks are teams that could draft a QB. If they like JJ more than Ward/Sanders, why not make that deal? Personally I give him a franchise tag and see what compensation I can get. Worst case he's back on a 1 year deal.
Which is why I think there’s a decent chance it happens. If it does, Jerry will probably wait until the day of the SB and announce the hiring.
Yeah, that was kind of his point. eta: how will they finagle Sanders Jr ending up with Dallas too (what will Jerrah trade?)...that would make it so perfectly hilariously awesome.
The combination of their drool for Deion mixed into their drool for the cowboys will create a literal tsunami.
I imagine it will turn off even more people than before to the Cowboys, regardless to what the network media does with it.
Gotta say I'm surprised by the strong messages of disappointment by key Cowboys players about Mike McCarthy being cut loose. I can only hope these same guys are also "devastated" and "bummed out" by whoever Jerry brings in.
Barklay is the favorite for Offensive Player of the Year, followed by Chase and Jackson, but I still think Lamar Jackson is the most deserving of the award. He's the first QB in NFL history to ever throw 40 or more touchdowns with less than 5 interceptions. That's unreal. He's also the first to throw for over 4,000 yards and rush for 800 yards in a season. Barklay hasn't done anything other running backs haven't done before. In fact, he only has 84 more rushing yards than Henry and only 85 more receiving yards, but Henry has 3 more touchdowns. Ja'Marr Chase definitely did far more than any other receivers in the league this year, but he didn't break any NFL records like Jackson did either. I just think Jackson is in a league of his own this year when it comes to offensive greatness.
I'm ok if Chase wins, but really Sewell should get it this season. Obviously he won't, but it would be cool and deserving.
