I think this narrows down based on how free agency finishes up. IMO, if they don't sign a legit, run-stopping DT, you can pencil one in as their first selection in the draft. I want another WR like everyone else, but the key for the Texans making the leap to SB contender is having a top 3-4 defense.
Murphy ain’t dropping past the Fins, if he even drops that far, cuz they need to replace Wilkins. Every other DT available after that is not worth a 1st round pick and I’m almost positive Murphy is the only DT the Texans have a first round grade on. So maybe Kris Jenkins or Sweat in the second round. The Steelers are almost certain to take a WR after trading Diontae Johnson. Thing is tho if the Steelers pick a WR you know he’s a f*cking basket case cuz Steelers love basket case WR. But being slightly serious Brian Thomas Jr ain’t getting past the Steelers. Unless they stay on brand a pick a basket case. lol. Don’t think CB Arnold or Mitchell drop to us either. I genuinely think we are gonna trade back some spots and pick a BPA. Maybe someone wants an OT or DE in which case trade back and use the draft capital.

Baumgardner: Houston made a few of them, actually. The Texans did an outstanding job maximizing their draft capital a year ago, and it showed during their 2023 playoff run. They still had gaps to fill, so I was curious where the Texans would spend — or how much they’d spend — this offseason, considering they’re not nearly as loaded with capital. They paid edges Hunter and Denico Autry, as well as LB Azeez Al-Shaair, moves that make me think we’ll see Houston be aggressive on WRs and, perhaps, offensive tackles at the draft. By paying for other needs, the Texans are now in position to take advantage of this class’ two deepest positions. We’ll see how the signings work out, but the strategy from GM Nick Caserio makes a lot of sense.
The latest mock draft projections are all different. I guess it will all boil down to who is still there and we snag the best player available that fits our biggest needs.
Texans have to trade back and pickup a extra 2nd or 3rd. I think Sweat may last until late rnd 2 or early rnd 3
