We need players on both offense (OL, WR, TE) and on defense. I say just take the best player available and you can't go wrong. Our offense and defense are rated about the same.
The first step was to get quantity of players we can win with. The next is to concentrate on quality. Now we are lucky to have done both in key positions. I wish players were timed in full pads.
Buck, thanks for the highlights and thoughts. Bowers is like Tank Dell from the standpoint he's a "weapon". You don't see TEs being used in the running game as much as he is and he can line up wide as well. While he's not big by Today's standards, he solidly put together and looks a svelte guard on some of those plays he's pulling. However, his best traits from the times I've seen him are his elite hands and that he is an alpha competitor. Bottom line is we need playmakers on offense and defense. If we're able to get a guy like Bowers he'll be a difference maker for this offense in a big way. When it's all said in done, my guess is he'll likely go in the 7-12 range of the draft depending on how many QBs go early, Here's what PFF says about the TEs coming out in 2024. @Scarface note the reference to Kyle Pitts... https://www.pff.com/news/college-football-top-returning-tight-ends-2023 "And not only is Bowers the best tight end in the country, but he’s also on pace to be the best in the PFF College era." They talk about him being a "generational talent".
We have a chance then, apparently there's suppose to be a bunch of QBs rated higher than Stroud when he was in college. Those teams will go get it, making room for Texans to grab MHjr.
What if Fields ends up with 37 Tds 16 Ints? What do you if you're the bears. Sell that pick for an all time heist or Draft Caleb?
I don’t think they would get much for Fields. I just watched his tape against Washington. It’s not good despite what results say. No timing, always late, doesn’t anticipate. Not a top tier guy imo so why trade for him?
He ran a 4.5 as a sophomore in highschool twice at the Nike spark camp in front of scouts at 240 lbs. If you don’t see him leaving everyone on tape I don’t know what you’re looking at. The dude was being prepped to have rushing attempts in the spring for Georgia. He’s a guy you can line up literally anywhere on the field and be a threat to score, and he can block.
There are several moments here where Bowers beats SEC safeties to the corner and outruns their angles. Not even sure I would say he’s a TE, dude is a weapon and will most likely go top 5-10
