I keep saying I love T'Vondre Sweat but again, Braden Fiske FITS with this team more. This just shows the definition of a Demeco SWARM type player.
Also if we wanted a pass rush threat, we would've tried harder to keep Collins and Rankins. Demeco clearly wants a run stopping DT. Run stopping DT + 2 great Edges is what we need and we already got the Edges part.
What's impressive to me are his angles of pursuit are extraordinary for DL. I really like his motor, explosiveness and size. Believe his other traits can overcome TRex arms.
I like Fiske more than Sweat. Fiske reminds me of ' JJ Fatt ' but faster. I'll take Sweat too. Gimme all them picks.
I don’t like zierlein’s draft even a little bit, but agree on sweat. He is too fat for anything but nose guard and I don’t trust guys that don’t stay in shape with millions on the line.
I like this prospect as a 7th round / UDFA target = Tyreek Johnson, South Carolina as a versatile DT / DE 6.375, 283 lbs 32.75 arm, 10 1/8 hand Comparing him to combine DT prospects 33 reps on bench press (#2) VJ 35" (top 10 for combine participants) (#1) 10' 4" broad jump (#1) 4.7 40 (1.56 10 yard split) (#1) 7.65 3 cone (#3) 4.47 shuttle (#3) https://www.panthers.com/news/south-carolina-hosts-pro-day-with-multiple-prospects-in-attendance Johnson was hampered by injuries during the first three years of his college career. It put him at the bottom of a depth chart that would have likely forgotten him if not for a coaching change. When Shane Beamer and company arrived in Columbia before the 2021 season, Johnson saw his best chance to break out of purgatory. "If you were to ask me probably like three years ago, I probably wouldn't think I'd be here. Based on one decision, I probably wouldn't even be here at this draft. "It was back during COVID. COVID was a hard time. I felt like I wasn't going to get the opportunity I should've gotten with past injuries… you'll be at the bottom of the depth chart; your coaches don't necessarily want to invest time in the guy. "So, when you're at the bottom, you got to work your way back out to the top, and that's what I did. I grinded it out…When the new coaching staff came in, just grind it out, it helped put me in that position; when the new coaching staff came in, just ground out, and it helped me put myself in the position that I was in today." Johnson's best game as a Gamecock came against Texas A&M this past season when he had seven tackles. A blocked field goal against Florida added to his season. At 6-3, 270 pounds, he can afford to add some weight, but his frame excites scouts, who see him as both a potential rusher and interior tackle. "Most of the time they say they want to see me at 280 (pounds) so I can be able to play D-end and D-tackle. They see me playing both as sort of a hybrid, and I'm fine with that. I'm perfectly fine with that," Johnson explained. "I basically kind of did it here. We had scheme-wise that I was going to play a 3-technique, but we didn't really run it in a game. I played a lot of 4i this season and a lot of 6i. Playing the 3-tech, to me, ain't no different than playing the 4i."
I could see this. I also think they could be happy with the run stoppers they already have on their DL and draft an athletic DL like Logan Lee from Iowa to help with the pass rush later in the draft. If they choose to go this way then WR, CB could be the picks at 2-42, 59. I could also see Caserio picking at 2-42 and moving up from 2-59 to get a guy he liked at 2-42 that falls to say 2-52.
I'm thinking scheme versatility could include the occasional used of the 3 - 4 scheme with T'Von in the middle and the 3-4 edge guys when the need arises. Then use him in the middle of Max run protect on short yardage situations. The BEEF line-up.
If Troy Franklin winds up on the Chiefs, just turn out the lights. NFL writers would have an easy time scripting the 2024/25 season.
