It means that in 7 of his games over the past two seasons he didn't allow a single pressure or sack. On another note, Notre Dame fans liked his game but felt he hadn't reached his top tier potential and that he should have returned for his senior season.
https://www.on3.com/teams/notre-dam...ake-fisher-in-second-round-of-2024-nfl-draft/ Fisher allowed 3 sacks and 15 total pressures in 345 opportunities this past season, according to Pro Football Focus. https://www.si.com/college/notredame/football/houston-texans-draft-offensive-tackle-blake-fisher Fisher's 2023 season got off to an inconsistent start, but he settled in and finished on a high note. After allowing 13 pressures in the first seven games (PFF), Fisher allowed just three in the final five. Fisher also performed better in the run game down the stretch. https://patriotsfootballnow.com/202...e-fisher-notre-dame-fighting-irish-nfl-draft/ In his two seasons as a full-time starter, Blake Fisher allowed 32 quarterback pressures, including eight sacks. He was called for seven penalties, including five last season. Pro Football Focus gave Fisher a 72.9 grade in 2022 and a 71.1 in 2023. His pass-blocking improved, though his run-blocking grade went down slightly.
thats such a meaningless stat, especially for college football where 7 of your games are probably against small schools. what did he do during the other 20(?) games?
I think Notre Dame uses some outside zone concepts in their offense, so that could be helpful to jumpstart our running game (assuming he performed well in that area). A quality swing tackle is a huge need for this team, and if he can play LG, all the better.
It's difficult to compare last year to anywhere when we had 2 of the top 3 picks vs not even having a first rounder this year
“Blake’s a tackle. Not all tackles can move inside. There’s propensity to move guys inside if they’re a certain size. Sometimes you get too cute and a bump a guy inside just because. Blake’s a tackle. Tytus is a better tackle than inside player. … Blake’s experience has been at tackle and treat him as a tackle.”
Tytus can play G, just not very well.Move him back to RT and leave him there IF there is no more annihilation of the OL where you just need bodies and you're just dealing with least worst situations. I have no doubt those in charge know this unlike the idiots in the national press. Until the inevitable injuries, LT Tunsil, RG Mason and RT Howard are set. The questions are about LG and C and their backups. Draft players like Fisher are just longer term experiments than short term free agents, so Fisher's potentially both a short term backup or replacement in the future at tackle. I'm still hoping for a true guard later in the draft as they try to figure out who plays WELL at LG and C. My initial guess would be Scruggs at LG and Patterson at C, but that's far from set in stone. I have not heard much about OL rotation which is typical on the DL. I tend to think of it as less common, but without any real knowledge abut current trends.
