If the 4.60 he ran is true at his Pro Day. That is a big red flag. In 2011 Draft, the Texans drafted Brandon Harris in the 2nd round who ran a 4.56. I don't know if you guys can remember, but Harris couldn't cover anything because he kept getting left behind. Wade Phillips wanted to cut him before the season started.
Somebody else posted and I have seen it on the World Wide Web AKA Da Innanet, that he ran a 4.50/4.51
He has elite quickness and change of direction. Theres disparity between his reported 40 times. 4.51-4.65, neither is great but the 4.51 will play in the league. His tape is great, someone said it earlier about reminding him of Dunta Robinson. I agree, Dunta was a little more athletic but still similar types of players
I don't know a lot about the guy, but I like that he seems to do well getting his head around for the ball. That frustrates the hell out of me when CBs never try and just jump into the receiver, which is NEVER timed right when they can't see the ball. So it's PI, almost every time. Demeco is happy about the pick, then I'm happy. I'm encouraged that he had so few PI penalties but is still physical.
I heard that in his pro day he ran a 4.55. So that 4.6 is very close to his top speed. If he is asked to cover either one of the wideout, it’s going to be the quickest smoked flavored BBQ,ing of Lassiter. Texans coaches aren’t stupid, they know Lassiter is going to help in the run stop and elite cover of TE’s and slot receiver; he’s meant to take out the short game, which burned them last season. Therefore, because he won’t be able to keep up with the wide outs, he’s specifically being drafted to be the CB on slot receivers. It’s a move that only teams that already have a shutdown corner, franchise QB, franchise edge, franchise LT make! And it’s a difference maker type of move! This is the reward for being so good in drafting in previous years, hitting on the free agent market, and properly developing a culture!
I think some forget; Stingley ran a 4.4. CJ Henderson ran a 4.39 and Okudah 4.48. We have enough speed on the team. It also comes down to technique and scheme. Rarely is someone locking someone down one on one in today’s game. I trust our staff to scheme correctly and slow down opposing players.
Caserio doesnt care about 40 times. He looks at GPS in game tracking data to determine speed. Other orgs do as well. This is a good thing. Players spending the off season training for some stupid drills that are not rly football is an incredible waste of reasources. Hopefully the Combine dies and orgs will just use detailed GPS data to determine atheletic ability.
