Let's give thanks to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the upcoming draft. I think it'll be a good harvest for us.

The Astros are really aggressive on signing Latin Players since Dana Brown took over.
Top Prospects on the Astros 17-20 year olds.

Keith Law is almost always wrong about the Astros and their needs. The Astros can take a high schooler if they want. I’ll support whomever Brown decides to take - he is very good at what he does.

Cam will be 17 at the time of the draft, he should be entering his senior year of high school but reclassified. He almost touches 100 on the mound. He has a lot of tools.

I can't believe how ****ing hard a lot of these really young pitchers are throwing the ball now.

It is crazy isn't it. You use to be something special if u could throw mid 90s. Now it seems like there are tons of guys that get in the mid 90s

A&M had a guy who hit triple digits something like 30 times the other night. Insanity! And he was hitting his spots. The night before that he literally couldn't throw a strike, but the sheer velocity was unreal.

Draft is in 6 days. Latest mocks have Houston on either advanced college bats or HS SS. Regardless of what they do in the 1st round, I hope they focus overall on advanced high ceiling college bats (sacrificing defensive value if they have to) and high ceiling arms (taking guys with injury history if they have to).

    QFTT.

I wish Hader (and his 1.8 HR/9IP) were doing better. It would make losing the 2nd pick easier to take.

I think Hader will be fine. We’re going to have to stop using him in every single tied game though. I get the strategy behind it, but it clearly isn’t working. So rest Hader slightly more in tied games and our conversation rate with him will definitely increase

28: HS SS Theo Gillen; others I like: college OF Dakota Jordan, college 1B Tommy White, college OF Vance Honeycutt, HS OF Slade Caldwell

101: HS P Conrad Cason; others I like: college IF Josh Kuroda-Grauer, college RP Tyson Neighbors, HS P Blake Larson, HS P Connor Gatwood

131: HS SS Owen Paino; others I like: HS OF Terrence Kiel II, HS SS Jay Abernathy, college IF Zander Darby, college SS Jalin Flores

This is a very weak draft. Normally there are tons of guys I really like that project to be available in the 2nd-10th rounds, but that’s not the case this year. I think a lot of teams are going to be trying to convince HS kids to sign for slot in those rounds. Sadly, it may not be prudent to expect the Astros to get a lot out of this draft unless they hit on unknown pitching in the later rounds.

If they can add 4-5 guys that can become Matthews level prospects in the draft and international draft then I consider that to be a successful draft. This is doable IMHO.

You expect them to add 4-5 guys on par with their previous 1st round pick, when they don’t even have a 2nd rounder??? Hmm.

I expect a couple of Matthews, Bloss guys from the draft and a couple of Baez, Leon, Ullola guys from the international signings.

    I definitely consider this possible.
