It keeps him off of American League competitors. It also makes re-signing Bregman more plausible.

As in Hunter brown? The best pitcher in the American League the last 2 months and a guy with 4.5 years of club control? For Paredes? Do we have some other Brown I’m not aware of?
    That would be completely insane.

I would have dealt Dana Brown for him

Or they chose other prospects over ours?

Nah, that can’t be it. It’s Jeff Bagwell’s fault most likely.

I'd gladly deal Dana Brown too, not Hunter tho. :)

Dealing Hunter Brown for Paredes would be up there with one of the dumbest trades in Astros history.

That's correct. He is untouchable, now. Correct, sir.

Nobody is "untouchable" other than Yordan, Altuve, Diaz...who am I forgetting?

IMO, the Yanks or Dodgers getting him eliminated a competitor for Bregman and us getting him provided a hedge.

But no chance in hell I'm trading Hunter Brown for Paredes or anyone else. If that was the price, I'm fine with how this played out. Trading the guy that's been one of the best in the league for the better part of 2 months when you also have a shortage at the position is a terrible idea.

Would be kinda crazy trading a young SP on the up with many years of control for an infielder. Especially a team like the Astros who are in need of more SP than anything.

Tampa trades are always a little different. Honestly, makes me nervous trading with them.

If they really asked for Hunter Brown but then settled for Christopher Morel...seems a bit crazy to me

Arrighetti, Chas or Jake (or Loperfido), Melton and Whitley for Paredes would have been more than the cubs sent and a reasonable price I’d have gladly paid for Paredes. Assuming we had another SP or 2 coming back to us somewhere along the line if we were to do a package like that.

My guess is that Tampa asked for Arr/Bloss in the deal but we needed a deal for a SP to be done first and couldn't time it up with Tampa.

I mean- just do it and settle for a BOR starter if that’s all you can get. Those guys are BOR this year so worst case scenario you aren’t harming this years arm situation.
