If you didn't read the article, some of the folks who had to stop work because of this nonsense were wildland fire crews and incident management teams. After hurricanes, they do a lot of opening roads, taking down hazard trees, and getting to hard-to-reach places. To keep this out of D&D, I'll just offer two statements of fact: National Weather Service meteorologists have received death threats for doing their job--forecasting and warning about the weather. This is not a new occurrence for wildland firefighters. The number of armed encounters over the last few years has risen noticeably. When this happens, we leave immediately and may need to adjust our strategy and tactics if we can't work in an area because of a threat.
I honestly can’t understand what these ‘militias’ hope to do here with FEMA workers. Even if the propaganda and rhetoric were true, the workers are just schmucks on the ground doing the jobs they were instructed to do. ****ing idiots.
