He was asked a question about what the VP said about him. He explained that it has nothing to do with politics. Crazy that even needs to be said
Also, what FEMA is doing in NC is a joke. Citizens are getting far more done. It’s what happens when people stop licking boots.
I get that government gets everyone's feathers ruffled. I'd recommend everyone join our D&D to air out your frustrations.
First responders and FEMA are two separate entities. If you’ve dealt with FEMA you know how mismanaged they are.
I stay as far away from that cesspool as possible. Didn’t mean to make this a political thing, just pointing out it isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue. This is about the people, they’re going to need help.
Licking boots? WTF dude. Can you please god save your weird political comments for the D&D. You can engage people who have and/or do work in government (like @rimrocker ) or people like me (who have many dear people on the ground in western NC) there. TIA. And yes, others are responding to your political tangents, but you keep starting it. This is a thread about the hurricane season.
I started it? Absolutely not chief. I responded to a poster wanting to bring in politics. I have family in Tennessee and North Carolina, along with people there helping now with some of my equipment. So save me your holier than thou BS.
Luckily, I have never had to deal with them so I can only respond to what I see through the media, it looks like they try and do what they can BUT with any government agency dealing with this amount of money and coordination of logistics in a just in time atmosphere could bring about too much red tape and bureaucracy. Every disaster I have lived through whether it's a hurricane in Houston or a tornado up in Omaha I have found our friends and neighbors are our biggest allies and are Johnny on the spot, if anyone is waiting on any government agency oh boy, good luck.......as another poster mentioned the American Red Cross is normally on the ground giving useful immediate help such as water and food
Communities are always going to be the best and most immediate response. Red Cross is better than FEMA, they have their issues as well. Regardless, people need help. If FEMA can provide it or communities/neighbors. Let them get the help
Jesus ****ing Christ. rimrocker respectfully responds to your MAGA bullshit with an informed, first hand perspective, grounded in decades of relevant experience and you respond with "bootlicking". Just shut the **** up.
I've been a disaster responder volunteering with the Red Cross (I wasn't a first responder just someone who showed up and distributed food and water). I also volunteered for several years with NGO groups doing disaster aid and recovery both in the US and other countries. While there are many stories of private individuals and groups helping out and even rescuing people that is not nearly the level of what happens by local and federal government. @rimrocker is absolutely correct about what government is doing. Also a lot of what FEMA and the federal government does isn't immediately visible or headline grabbing. For example reimbursing local authorities for the cost of the disaster services including first responders.
Lmao. MAGA? You buffoons can’t help but label and bring in politics. Reading comprehension is tough it seems, that was a general statement. He thinks FEMA is valuable. I do not. Experiences differ
I know you're right in it, and I've been there too, bone-ass tired, stressed, worried about your life, money, food, water, where to live... and the government bureaucratic ineptitude is really exacerbated when you need help the most. I broke down and cried a few times after Ike flooded my house, just because it just seemed like such an insurmountable thing while I was throwing away everything I owned in a hou. And it seriously sucks even without any sort of echo chamber bullshit going on in the background. And then you have this other ****er Milton coming along when your pants are still around your ankles. Totally understand. There is a lifetime of rational experience with @rimrocker - the guy has literally made being dead center in disasters (wildfires) a career. There is a lot to learn from him and he's a great resource.
I literally haven’t said anything negative towards him. I appreciate what he and others that put themselves at risk do. If it came across as me insulting him, I’m sorry. But no matter what anyone says, I am never going to trust FEMA or any other big government agencies. Far too many bad experiences with them.
