I'm going to grab some popcorn and sit back and let you explain how this is even possible?? And yes I've heard of some of the crazy ideas how people are suggesting this could be done but I guess I'm oblivious to the way that the "government" can actually do this. Please explain?

He’s joking. It’s something a previous president said.

Desantis is doing what he’s supposed to be doing.
Has nothing to do with politics

Lol at " do not confuse "

What a tool. As if milton has hit . btw most projections are saying it will lose strength as it approaches , but also spread out which could make the surge worse.

Long story short , get out .

but i hate the fear mongering

Bro you are behind the times. The govt isn’t stopping hurricanes they are directing them towards Florida to destroy it. This is very well known on Twitter.

Yeah, and all of the debris from Helene will be projectiles.

Hopefully a lot is cleaned up. Being mostly storm surge damage.
We have a property in siesta key that was pretty bad, but there’s a lot of clean up done already

    Uh, no.

Helene made landfall less that two weeks ago. You may not have ever been in an area that got clobbered by a storm like this, but it takes months to gather, stage and remove the scope of debris they're dealing with. I saw it in Galveston after Ike. They had that **** piled up in vacant lots for a long time. The logistics of getting the dump trucks there and finding a place for it all are huge.

There’s for sure areas still reeling. Some are moving quicker.
There wasn’t a ton of wind damage in the southern part of Florida. Mainly in the panhandle.
Storm surge did majority of damage.
Our area had some pretty bad storm surge damage, entire houses wiped away. But debris is being handled pretty quickly

Damn, I'm sorry about the devastation to your area. I didn't realize you were on the ground there. From my experience I agree, the debris removal is always inconsistent.

Hope you're safe with this ****er, cause he mean.

Sorry for confusion. We have a property in Siesta Key, a beach front condo that was damaged bad. We don’t live there.
But our friends that live on site have been sending us pics and updates.
There are areas cleaning up quickly, but it’s mainly more incorporated or property managements companies doing a lot of the work.
There are areas that have a ton of debris still, mostly from cleaning out flooded homes.

No way in hell we would be there during this storm.
Most of the area friends and family that are lifers there have evacuated.
Siesta Key is just south of Sarasota and Tampa, which looks like it’s going to take a direct hit

Maybe there is some hope that it will weaken further than expected before landfall

    I'll spoiler this for comment:

DeSantis is literally talking to Fox News, a right-wing propaganda medium, about political ****. If he was really locked in on the welfare of his state he wouldn't be talking to them at all, and if he were on a real news channel he would shut that **** down 100% to talk about what FL needs instead of commenting on anything political. Thinking this guy is a real leader and anything but a pure politician is dangerous.

At any rate, this isn't the D&D.

I am 25 miles from the current path where the eye is going to pass in central Florida. Long time Floridians are very concerned and are well aware of the risks. My risk factor is long term power outages and lack of communication. Natives are even more concerned with insurance policies going forward. The state is prepared. And as for politics, we dont need Washington to "fix" the disaster for us. We just need FEMA to stay out of the way and provide support.
I had three of my fams come in this week for the Disney FL experience and only one left (this one is going back to Asheville, ironically). The others want the full FL experience.
There are massive utility caravans heading south. So that is good to hear.

I'd love to try and evacuate in an electric car.

Whether it is Owner Operators or Drivers working for companies, the trucks picking up debris - trash from Helene aren't going to keep going until 30 minutes before Milton makes landfall.

The same can be said for operations at the Landfills because people will eventually need to stop working so they can take care of their own needs and have their families properly sheltered.
