Asheville has not been the easiest place for Trey Dombroski but he logged a solid enough outing tonight. The K:BB ratio is still decent so he's probably experiencing a severe case of the Asheville Effect. 4.2 IP, 8 H (6 were doubles), ER, BB, 7 K
Yogi Berra? Two of the top five catchers of all time were under 5'10". If Villarroel can rake the ball we will figure it out. Never seen many 5'5" second basemen before Altuve nor a lot of 5'11" first basemen before Bagwell.
Encarnacion is a legit sleeper prospect. 70 grade speed with a decent arm and good plate discipline. Suffers from a severe lack of power but otherwise a really nice prospect. 25 steals in 50 games this season and has played all 3 OF spots plus 2B.
https://www.mlb.com/astros/news/ast...t-half-of-2024-season?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Some minor league notes from MacTaggert with quotes from Buffa. Nothing all that substantive although interesting Buffa sees Whitcomb as an OF. Also good to see Buffa speak positively about Baez’s defense, which has been a topic in this thread recently.
There's been a Franny Cobos sighting. He looked like an up and comer. What happened to him over the last couple of years?
Man, Hensely completely fell off my radar. After 2022 I thought he was going to be a breakout player for sure and really help the big league team. Now I don't even pay attention to what he's doing in the minor leagues.
