In his Fayetteville debut, Joan Ogando walked two and struck out three in 1.2 hitless innings of relief. Abel Mercedes followed him out of the bullpen and got all six outs via strikeout. He also allowed two hits and... did not walk anyone!

37 BB, 59 K in 33.1 IP for Mercedes now.

Mercedes still doesn’t have control, but he’s been amazing since July 1: 11 innings, 28 k, 1 er (8 bb).

    Trey Dombroski's Corpus debut: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K

James Hicks now on for the Hooks, who lead Amarillo 2-0 in the 5th.

Mercedes stayed on to close out the game for Fayetteville and... he also struck out the side in the 9th. He did hit a batter and there was also a passed ball that moved that runner to 2nd, but Abel Mercedes closed out a 4-3 Fayetteville win. So that's 37 BB, 62 K in 34.1 IP for Mercedes.

No Fayetteville batters drove in a run. They scored on a couple of passed balls in the 4th, and then in the 5th, Alberto Hernandez scored on a balk and Yamal Encarnacion stole home.

His biggest problem is between his ears.

He probably has one of those brain worms like RFKjr

Mas son who lives in Cambridge says women up there have brain worms.

It looks like he finally found a good one. We spent a 5 day weekend there this last weekend. Beautiful weather.

What a weapon he could be if he ever develops decent control.

Looks to me like he was solely focused on trading for Padres or Diaz, when he could've added a solid avg bat like Cahana to play 1B.

Canha has over an .850 OPS against lefties in close to 100 plate appearances this year.
.826 last year I. Close to 200 plate appearances.
The Giants gave up their 25th ranked prospect for him, so the equivalent of Alimber Santa let's say.

I think Crane is just infatuated with always trying to get the band back together. Verlander, Graveman, Aledmys....
Diaz has never had an OPS of.800 against lefties in his career.

Down in the DSL, the Orange team's comeback fell just short as they lost to the Guardians' Goryl (2nd) team 5-4. Luis Quesada hit his 5th home run of the season. They scored two in the top of the 9th but left the bases loaded to end the game.

Meanwhile, the Blue team split a doubleheader with the Padres' Brown team, winning the first game 8-3 and losing the second game 6-5 in 8 innings. Brayan Sanchez hit his first homer of the season in game 1. Hector Salas went 2-3 with a sac fly.

Juan Sierra (7) and Samuel Brito (1) went deep in game 2. For Brito, a 17-year-old infielder from Venezuela who signed just after this year's IFA period opened, that's his first career home run.

Luis Baez has driven in all three Asheville runs so far in their game with Hickory: he has a two-run blast (18) and an RBI single.

Call up Dezenzo. How much worse can he be than Singleton or Cabbage?

Dezenzo’s current projections, which hardly care about his current hot streak, have him about as good as Singleton. I could see like maybe 20% worse in a worst case scenario, but he would be replacing a replacement level player with zero upside.

I don't know how you could project anything about a guy who has played 30 games this season
