I've seen other reports that say that's not true and that RM is holding out for Xabi Alonso. Man that United game yesterday was absolutely bonkers. Played fantastic in the 1st half only to start playing not to lose in the 2nd and it cost them. Garnacho should've put it away with that 1v1 but choked it. When it went 4-2, I had gotten a couple of work calls one after another. I look up and I see Bruno taking the pk. Figured "that's nice" but it's not enough. Get another call and put it on mute. Turn back just in time to see Maguire's goal. Didn't even realize the score was now 5-4 because I never saw Mainoo's beauty. What I would've given to be at Old Trafford for that ending. Hojlund is our only striker available for the EL and he is worthless. I saw him throwing hissyfits at not getting the ball when he either didn't make the run at all or made the wrong run. His instincts as a striker are terrible. If De Ligt is healthy enough for the semi...I seriously consider starting ol' Slabhead at the 9. Maybe not for long but I'd at least think about it. As much s*** as that guy has been given over the years (and much of it rightly so), he's been nothing but a warrior and absolutely clutch in some big moments.
Who y'all got in the ECL semis? I think it will be Arsenal and Barca...with Barca winning the whole thing. In the Europa, I beleive Man U will beat Athletic Club and Totten should, theoretically, take care of Bodo/Glimt. An all English final will be a good time. Of course, I'm picking United but Spurs have kind of had our number this year.
The 2nd leg is going to be even more nuts. Inter is playing exhausted and Barca can't defend. All 6 goals were fantastic. It's nearly impossible to imagine just how good Yamine Lamal is going to be if he stays on this trajectory. That goal was ridiculous and he nearly had a 2nd. Europa League semi's today. Happy to see De Ligt and Amad back in the United squad, even if they won't start. If we can come out of this with a tie or even a lead, having them for the 2nd leg at home will be huge.
Awesome win by United today! If you had "Harry Maguire breaks a dude's ankle...twice...and sets up a goal from the wing" on your bingo card, you win. No one had that...ever. This alternate timeline we've moved to since Jan 20th has created all kinds of weird anomalies that include Harry Magure: World Class goal scorer and creator. What a strange time we're living in.
On both occasions when the final was played in Munich we saw a first time champion (Dortmund 1997, Chelsea 2012), so this one is the sheik's to win. Still hate them and any other plastic club, but it would be a tiny bit funny if Paris won the trophy the very year after Mbappé's free transfer exit.
Will never get tired of telling. Anyways, huge day in Munich. The trophy is back and a legend says farewell.
