I think there are several players outside of the Astros org that feel this way. Also feel that once they come over and actually get to know the guys, and see the professionalism of both the org and players, they quickly change their tune. I wouldn’t be too worried about it. Wasn’t it Jose Abreu that said he was surprised at how close the team was and how hard they work?
I think it depends on how well he does in the pen. Good relievers are getting 12-15 million a season right now. If the Astros trade for another starter under multi season control, I could see him going to the pen with the idea they can convert him back. Last year Click was going to trade him for a pure rental in Contreras, I don't know how much value Urquidy really has,
I would trade any of our extra outfielders including Gilbert and any pitcher not named Framber, Javier, Pressly and Hunter Brown for Cease.
Let's go for broke !! Luis Garcia, J.P. France, Grae Kessinger, Korey Lee, and Spencer Arrighetti to Cards for Jordan Montgomery, Jordan Hicks, and Brendan Donovan. Cards will only have 1-2 returning SP next year. They are stacked with position players. Losing Donovan would hurt them but they get 2 starting pitchers and a 3rd close to MLB ready. Corey Julks to Royals for Scott Barlow.
Lol ok sorry No, they wouldn’t consider that They aren’t giving up Brown, who has performed better than Cease and has way more control, and cheap control, for Cease So they certainly wouldn’t add a prospect The Astros need to add a starter to Framber, Javier and Brown, not trade one of them for another one I have no doubt we would like to add Cease
I'll say again a cheap under the radar OF add would be Dylan Carlson. He isn't getting alot of love in St Louis. And he just may need a change.
I seen this on the Cards board thought I'd share. Montgomery, Flaherty and Carlson for Luis Garcia or Jose Urquidy, Whitaker, Whitley and Pedro Leon. They want long term SPs.
What I've read on there board about Carlson. For the Right side he is a better hitter. From the Left side he has a gold esq type of swing. His Def is really goof but they need him to be in one spot and stay in one spot. Montgomery and Flaherty will both test the open market and not stay in St Louis. They would want them to stay but it's unlikely they ca n pay them what they may command.
From the Cubs Board they think Stroman is worth an top 50 prospect And Bellinger is worth a top 25 prospect. And if they combine them they could get a top 10ish type of prospect. To me that's rediculas. Bellinger would be great in LF or at 1B. He is great in CF but I would worry about his health. Stroman wants a long term deal is already tired of changing teams.
