Why would the Mets give TEX any $$ for next year when Scherzer has an opt out after this year?? I realize his contract for next yr is for 43 mil, but trust me, he WILL opt out after this yr and sign a new contract that will guarantee him more $$. If he waits until after next season he'll be a year older.

I'll believe it when I see it!! And if he did say that it was with his understanding that he would be with the Mets.
Scherzer ain't getting anything close to $43 million after this year. He better take that option year.
I have looked at it. With Yordan, Altuve, and Urquidy returning and Texas losing Heim, I think the Astros are 3 games better than Texas now. Texas has not played well the past month + The Astros have the experience to handle the pressure and overtake them. Now if this Scherzer deal happens that takes away a huge part of that 20% cushion. Brown - you are up.
Starting to feel like we get JV or we get nothing this trade deadline. I really hope Dana Brown comes through. We NEED an ace BADLY. JV is the top guy out there too. Make it happen.
Of course he's not getting anything close to 43 mil "next" season hence why he'll opt out and negotiate a contract for more $$ for more guaranteed yrs as opposed to waiting after the '24 season when he's a yr older.
