Just because the front office thinks something doesn’t mean the dude who writes out the lineup agrees

His stuff looked really good last night, and he was mixing all 5 pitches well. I also kind of like the fact that he’s 28 and most likely in his physical prime, it kind of reminds me of when Colin McHugh made his debut with us. It will really come down to locating for him and keeping the walks down, but it would be huge if he could be a solid Garcia replacement.

They were all career outfielders who got old and moved to first base!… what else are you looking for?

If Brantley still had youth and health on his side, he’d be an OF.

I feel like this happened 2 years ago. Same random shoulder soreness. Same time off.

I’m ready for the Forrest Whitley era to commence. No matter Bielak starts please.

Seriously man. Bielak is just not an MLB caliber pitcher. Dude gets torched often.

Wilson Contreras is already being thrown under the bus by the Cardinals. They've moved him off catcher into full time DH. I guess their starting pitching has been a disaster and he's getting the blame. He always had poor catching metrics so I'm happy the Astros didn't sign him. Remember he was GM Bagwell's 2nd free agent target after Abreu.

The cardinals are panicking and he's being scapegoated because their pitchers can't f**king locate.

Cubs pitching was just fine from 2016-2020 when they actually had talent.

That will be significant missed time. I am worried about the load on Framber generally, and the younger guys that haven't pitched full seasons as starters (Brown, Javier, and now France). Is there any harm in taking a flyer on a guy like Mike Minor, sign him to a minor league deal, if he performs down there then give him a roster spot. I just want enough bodies to eat innings and allow for a 6 man rotation again. I really feel the 6 man is what helped our starters stay sharp come October, and kept the bullpen fresh too.

Pitchers tended to perform well when he caught them in Chicago. I agree that, in spite of Contreras' well known limitations, this reflects more poorly on the Cardinals than it does on Contreras.

Giolito would be a good pick up but might be too pricy

Giolito stuck up for the Astros with the cheating scandal so he's good in my book.

Bielak's been very good for the almost 9 innings he's thrown.

    France was also solid.

    Whitley's the next man up.

Just regular "sore arm" and they gave him a couple of days off, as far as I know

Whitley appears to be far from ready for the majors IMO. So far this year he has pitched 21 innings in 5 games, three of which were starts, at Sugarland. He has an era of 6 along with issuing 10 walks and giving up 5 gopher balls. He does have 22 K's which is a good number. Am I missing something? We definitely need some help with our starting pitching but for now I am not convinced Whitley is ready for prime time. Is he better than his numbers look on paper?
