This team has good talent and depth. I understand, and can get behind your theory. After all only 4 2/3 of the innings in the WS and 1 2/3 in the ALCS were thrown by pitchers 9-13. I still would like at least a #9 guy, maybe #9-10 guys who are dependable though. Brown was on the bench in the W.S. and just waiting. 2023 is looking good too if LMJ can come back strong. Framber, Javier, Brown, LMJ Pressly, Abreu, Neris, Montero Maton has moved into that same tier for me. I don't think Urquidy makes the "stuff" cut, but Garcia can still get there. Garcia or LMJ need to prove health and show filthy stuff before the deadline or else the team should find an established starter w/ #1 or 2 type stuff. Giolito anyone?
Is there a reason Brantley hasn't been called back up yet? He's tearing it up in AAA and could at least dh.
Four perps robbed Altuve’s home for $1 million worth of jewelry during the opening day game! they should be banished from houston after they get out of prison. Probably better hope they aren’t recognized if they are out. uncool.
I mean every additional dude is nice but most teams don’t have to win a 1-0 game that goes 18. I’m not suggesting only carrying 8, I’m saying if you’ve got 8 guys that are “dudes” that’s enough to win a world series.
Are there any playoff caliber, rental SPs available for trade this year? Any owed a lot of money to offset prospect cost?
Pitchers who should be available: Patrick Corbin Shohei Ohtani Matthew Boyd Michael Lorenzen Eduardo Rodriguez Lucas Giolito Dylan Cease
As of this moment we don't necessarily need a playoff starter, we still should have 4 playoff worthy guys. But with Garcia done for this season and most if not all of next season, adding a team controlled arm of some kind is probably on the agenda.
It's a little early to have a clear picture on who will be sellers. The Cardinals and White Sox have been awful. If they are sellers Jordan Montgomery and Lucas Giolito would be interesting rentals.
I’ll agree with your first paragraph when we see LMJ on the mound producing, unless you are referring to Urquidy, which I guess you could consider a playoff caliber SP although that’s borderline.
Brewers are still in it but if by chance they fall back, any chance they make Corbin Burnes available? Is he still pissed about the arbitration hearing or all is well now? Struggling this year but assuming cost will be high. Who would you rather have, Burnes or Cease? Who'll cost more? Or neither, prefer a rental instead?
