Indeed. That was so bizarre that what he did could cause any trouble for him. It was so vanilla and inoffensive.
He was on the roster for around 26 games. He started 6 times. They were 5-1 in those starts. He sucked, but didn't hurt them in his starts
This. In one of those games, which was in St. Louis, he hit a key double to start a rally in a comeback win. At least that's what I recall off the top of my head. Real ones remember what a rally killer Robel Garcia was throughout 2021. And then Niko Goodrum came along to be the 2022 version of Robel Garcia.
Yup. Madrid kickstarted a comeback against the cards. I think he also helped comeback against the angels. I could be wrong. He was bad but we've seen worse
They are 1.5 ahead of the 3rd WC spot but 3.5 up on Seattle from being out of a WC spot. Seattle is a roll too winning 6 in a row. It ain't going to be easy down the stretch.
It is 3.5 games up for the last spot over the Mariners. The 1.5 games is the separation between the Astros and Blue Jays for the 2nd and 3rd Wild Cards.
Post-trade deadline analysis and ponderings: Bad deadline. C- Verlander: A+: I don't care about the prospect cost, and I don't think it was particularly high anyway. We now have JV on a steal during our championship window for a few more seasons. Graveman: F: I don't particularly care about Korey Lee. In a vacuum, i'd rather have him than Graveman, but that's not the problem with the trade. The problem with the trade is, if they're trading for only one reliever, they need to be a stud. Not a middling reliever that brings no guaranteed upgrade (and perhaps none at all) to the pen. The fact that they wanted to also trade for Hader reinforces how they botched this. It made no sense to only trade for one reliever and Graveman being that guy. No bat: D-: Even IF Brantley comes back eventually, since it appears to not be soon after the deadline, they made a huge mistake not trading for a bat. I'm very excited to see Singleton play and hope he crushes, but in no way was their intention at the deadline to gamble on him as a lineup mainstay for the final 40 games and playoffs. Hoping by some miracle that happens, but in the final homestretch of a hunt for the playoffs, another bat was clearly needed.
