Sweet. Great chance for Astros to take the opener. Astros rock lefties Expect: Altuve .846 ops / 136 wRC+ Bregman .696 ops / 94 wRC+ (.817 / 126 2nd half) Yordan .892 ops / 144 wRC+ Tucker .934 ops / 154 wRC+ Abreu .741 ops / 99 wRC+ (.873 / 135 2nd half) Chas 1.008 ops / 177 wRC+ Dubon .858 ops / 138 wRC+ Pena .834 ops / 132 wRC+ Maldy .816 ops / 123 wRC+
The top 5 teams by record in the playoffs went 1-13. And that lone win was a game given away by the Phillies.
In case y'all were wondering: Eovaldi 5.12 ERA on 4 days rest (11 starts) 2.54 ERA on 5+ days rest (13 starts) I think we are in a must win situation in game 1.
The series will be decided by now many innings we force their bullpen to pitch. If Montgomery goes 6 2/3 and Eovaldi 7, we might have a problem.
I agree, and I’m sure the Astros do also. You remember the statistics about Lopez seeing more called strikes than any time in his career? Get ready for that on steroids - they will be trying to run every count full to get to the bullpen early and/or tire them out for games 5-6. It could be frustrating to watch … but it’s part of the chess match.
Just have the bat control guys- Bregman, Brantley, Dubon foul off as many pitches as they can the 1st time through the order.
Eovaldi in the post season: WC: 2-0 1.50 ERA LDS: 2-0 1.89 ERA LCS: 2-2 5.09 ERA (all games against Houston. 2021 he was 1-2 6.97 ERA) WS: 0-1 1.13 ERA I like our chances
The eclipse was disappointing, especially compared to the one a few years ago. I was in a better path line then though. It turned night time for 10 minutes. Today was more like wearing sunglasses without sunglasses for ~30 minutes.
Probably not because I'm guessing they have pitchers like Seth Martinez, Parker Mushinski, Ronel Blanco still available that qualifies for the roster.
Agreed. We luckily didn't have to deal with Dusty's nephew screwing the pooch against the Twins. We may not be able up avoid that situation in a 7 game series. So yeah it sucks Montero is forced to be moved up a rung in the pecking order.
Well you go ahead and feel good about that. I certainly don't based on how he's been pitching lately. I just remember him and middling Bradley single handedly preventing us from the 2018 WS.
