While quality depth is always good, the Texans have way too many needs to draft a running back that early.

Drake Maye with a second terrible outing in a row, but we should wait to draft him next year according to some around here.

    This dude a titans/colts fan?
The main thing wrong with all these trades is that we don't get good (or even decent) value imo for the #1 overall pick on any of them.
Trade #1 we go down to #2 but only get a 2nd and a 3rd next year which really just equals a 2nd and 4th.
Another we go down from 1 to 14 and only get 1 extra 1st rounder?

    That's horrible value imo!

That trade where we trade down to 2 and take Stroud is giving me nightmares though!
Only thing worse would be picking Stroud at 1.

He wouldn't make it out the backfield on 50% of his carries with this team.. And I like him alot!

What I find even MORE funny, is that every trade scenario was to get Bryce and some on the site don't want him!

There are many former NFL guys like former GM Randy Mueller who wouldn't pick Young.

With potentially 6 picks in the top 100 in this upcoming draft along with 2 FRPs in the 2024 class.. along with cap space in this up coming offseason.. how is it reaching for a position “qb” when it’s and obvious need? Isn’t it possible to use one pick on a qb and still fill out your roster? I believe Nick can find talent in rounds 2-7 so why is it such a big deal picking a qb with the first overall pick.

As the team evaluates prospects, if a QB is #1 on their board then they should make the pick. What I would hate to see is after their eval there are 3-4 guys ahead of a QB, and they feel pressured into going QB #1.

We took Clowney when we needed a QB and thank God we didn't take Bortles.

The 1st overall pick should be a foundational player for your franchise, not just a position you need to fill. That's why its a big deal.

So you wouldn’t consider the qb as a foundational player? Some would argue that is the most important position on the field.. Also you can find foundation pieces in the entire draft so why is it still a big deal to use “1” pick on a qb then fill out the roster with talent? Also not including free agency to find talent…

I don't call a player who play in the SEC, who won a Championship and who has proven that he's a clutch player time and time again reaching.
