They already did a lot of interviews, including Caserio meeting and talking to him personally in the Combine, why would they go and ask the same questions, and they already met. Stroud said this during the combine, talking about the meeting he had withthe Texans. "I’m looking forward to going deeper and deeper and building a relationship with them," Stroud said. "They asked me some questions, and I feel like I did really well in the interview process with them. I got to meet everybody in their front office and had a great conversation." Maybe since they had the 9th pick at the time the Panthers front office didnt interview him during the Combine, and want to do it now during Pro Days.
I would just think that if you're going to hand somebody the keys to your franchise potentially, you would want to be as familiar as possible with them. In every aspect possible.
The interviews at the combined are limited in length, I think to 15 minutes. At the pro day there are no set rules about how long you can interview a player beyond what the player and the team say. I don't think there's a universal rule that makes sense here though. There are plenty of examples of coaches falling in love with a guy at his pro day and disregarding what they saw on tape and it blowing up.
Some say Dhop fell to us because he ran in the high 4.5s. He doesn't have 10 inch hands like DHop though. wait what.
Also they have the Formal visits before the draft, to the city to show to get know more of the players, and that also has no time limit..
I think Caserio has put a lot of thought into how he does this. I don't know if he's right in his process, but I am fully confident that this isn't some fly by the seat of his pants decision not to go or something. Also, Demeco is on board with their strategy.
They only get 15 to 20 minutes with them at the combine. They basically have unlimited time with them at pro day.
Going back and looking, I see why you could pick Bryce over Stroud. His playmaking is great. He can can create plays out of nothing and probably would fit any system. His size just scares me. You can say that’s the only knock on him then poopity scoop but that’s big for me. CJ, I feel is different as well. I’m starting to think he’s underrated. He can make every throw as well. I don’t see how he’s bashed for being a pocket QB. The best QB of all time still had success IN THIS ERA as a pocket passer. Not to mention, the wears coast offense seems to fit him perfectly. Everything is timing. BUT that is my knock on him. I believe he’s going to be a system QB. Luckily, we have the right system.
I think this is a fair assessment honestly. Still don’t want Stroud, he might have a higher floor than any of the other 3 guys but all 3 of the others have a higher upside imo. I really just don’t want Mulugheta/Avery and their crew around the Texans. Trashy group of people
Could be nothing could be something.. But I’m sure will see the love affair for Bryce tomorrow at his pro day from the Carolina staff also.
