I noticed you glossed over where I said "potential baggage". With the amount of money people spend on these teams, I definitely would want to know if someone who I'm going to put millions in their pocket has a family history of poor choices related to crimes/drugs/alcohol. I'm not saying it would be a red flag or prevent me drafting them, but if they have a lot of people in their family that have "addictions". If 2 prospects are neck and neck, the family history could give one prospect the edge over another. I'm not going to turn this into a DnD discussion, but it's pretty obvious to most, why family history (within reason) could have an affect on you.... nature vs nurture.
Lol that is like saying you called the Trevor Lawrence pick. Clowney was locked in at #1 after his sophomore season. Mack made things a little interesting after his combine but Clowney was always going #1, didn’t matter who was picking.
I don't think anyone should have any sort of judgement levied on them because of something done by someone related to them. Glad to see the NFL feels the same. Judge everyone individually.
Mark Ingram’s father was in prison while he was at Alabama. Won the Heisman and has had an NFL career spanning over a dozen years and has been a model citizen wherever he has been.
This has absolutely zero bearing or relation to what I said. Thanks for the information. I said potential baggage, as well as familial addiction issues. I will now bow out of this mindless discussion and get back to our 2023 Draft.
Sorry, you brought up the entire subject on potential baggage based on family history. I agree it was a mindless point.
Some people had Mack and others were making the same kind of case they're making for Bortles that they're making for Young.
Clowney ran a sub 4.5 at some point in the evaluation (unofficial 4.47), it was a 4.53 at the combine. At his size, that is unheard of.
Ah, the off-season, so many bad takes, hindsight takes. I’ll throw one out there…I’m starting to think that if he puts it all together Anthony Richardson could be a faster Josh Allen. I’m starting to want him at 2 if he’s not there at 12(maybe move down a few spots if possible).
All that sounds like speculation and speculation means all uninformed biases help shape your viewpoint. Seems like a great idea to limit unconscious bias in an interview process.
There’s no denying Anthony Richardson is an extremely gifted quarterback. The 21-year-old Florida native and 2023 NFL Draft prospect is also undoubtedly one of the most divisive entrants in recent memory. Because of this extraordinary skillset, rumors have been swirling the past week about him being the first overall pick. Odds have seen a significant swing for Richardson to be the first player off the board in April. His statistics, however, are certainly not as eye-popping as his tape and he sometimes makes questionable decisions. Richardson threw nine interceptions in 2022 and only had a 53.8 completion percentage. Even with some NFL scouts drooling over Richardson’s potential, there are those who have him slated as a fourth-round pick, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “I can’t remember a bigger variance league-wide on a feeling about a quarterback than Anthony Richardson,” Fowler said on “NFL Live” Thursday night. “I’ve talked to multiple teams who’s scouting departments have first-round grades and fourth-round grades on the same player.” Many believe that another year in college would help clean up some of the tendencies that lead to poor play and tame his raw talent overall. Because of the question marks surrounding Richardson, it’s likely a team who already has an established quarterback will draft him in hopes of developing him.
Saying Clowney was the pick because McNair went to SC is selling him short IMO. He was as good of a non-QB prospect we have seen and definitely #1 pick worthy. Didn’t work out as planned but that’s the draft. I’d say the same about Bryce. No not a consensus #1 pick, but good enough prospect to warrant the pick without Cal or whatever owner forcing a GM’s hand.
Feb 28, 2019Murray surprised most by standing 5-foot-10 and 1/8 of inch while weighing 207 pounds. Will be interesting to see how Young compares.
He’s Josh Allen coming out of Wyoming. The talent is tantalizing and it excites me. But he has(by some distance IMO)the most bust potential of any top pick in this years draft.
No doubt the raw talent is there but having watched him play I am not certain he has the talent most needed in the NFL, between the ears.
