Sorry I run. It’s okay for a metric for distribution of weight over a vertical frame. Terrible for measuring how healthy someone is though.
I hate BMI lol There is no gray area for guys with mass and low body fat percentage. Almost every athlete would be considered overweight to obese. It does serve a purpose, just not very good in athletic field
He is not the second coming but you constantly point out his size which hasn’t hampered his performance. You must not have watched him because you keep talking about all this talent around him. He has probably had the worst OL the past two years that Bama has had in a decade and he has constantly been running for his life.
No, I’ve watched every game film of his to date. I’m just not going to gloss over his size. It is a big deal, whether people want to admit it or not. And it doesn’t matter if Bama had a down year, they still have more talent on the field than any opponent they face outside of maybe 1 or 2 a season. When they’re equal. Bryce is a stud, but there are serious concerns about his size and having to face NFL competition every week. Not just 1-2 times a year
He’s not, but literally the only real issue is the girth. And he’s so tremendous with his awareness, QB IQ, and ability to make tough throws, I’m not worried about it. It’s worth the risk all day every day.
BMI is absolutely irrelevant. It’s one the most most irrelevant health metrics you could possibly use. BMI says that Josh Jacobs is obese. It’s one of the most flawed health measures ever created.
I agree, he’s worth the risk. I’d take him at 2 and run with it. But, there’s still a risk with his outlier size. Im on board with Young. Im not on board with Stroud at any pick. Levis if it’s a trade back scenario
lol I was agreeing with your previous argument. In terms of weight to frame distribution is similar to Brees. But yes, BMI is absolutely a useless metric for measure of health or athletic ability!
Texans can say they're going to go defense and teams will buy it with Demeco's background. Then, at the last second with no team trading up, they take Bryce with the second pick. Or they can go Carter and bring Baby Carr home. I'd rather have Carr than 6 games of Jimmy G followed by 11 games of Mills due to a Jimmy mishap. Carr already knows the system. Whichever way they approach it, still going to need to draft a WR.
Not exactly. Nuance is important. It’s not particularly applicable in athletes for the reason you described but it’s also 1 data point. Most single health metrics aren’t incredibly useful gauges of health by themselves. If you’re looking at a very large subset of a normal population, BMI might be one part of a useful grouping tool. However using it by itself to judge a persons health is probably not a good idea.
I'm fully aware of how BMI works, but it's a lazy metric that was created bc it's easy and fast to use when evaluating patients. There's a point to it in healthcare settings no doubt, but it's not a very accurate measure for older individuals, and even less accurate for children. It's also generally less accurate for men than women to evaluate health risks due to differences in body composition. I've personally never been a fan bc a skinfold caliper really isn't that difficult to use, and while that has limitations as well, using a 4 site caliper and the Durnin Womersley equation is more accurate and relevant to health.
