If that were true, there would be at least 32 elite qbs in the league and we all know that’s far from the case.
The same things you're saying were said when Luhnow was rebuilding the Stros. True they're different sports, but remaining patient was the key to the Stros dynasty. I'm hoping Cal learns something looking at how Crane runs his franchise, but I doubt that happens.
There’s already a Steph Curry of the NFL But seriously, what the hell does that even mean? Gonna revolutionize the game? Gonna be the best QB? Best deep passer(shooter)? There’s only one Steph Curry and the Curry of the NFL resides in Kansas City.
True - but that works in MLB to a large degree because you control players you draft for about 8-10 years at reasonable prices between the minor leagues, base salaries, and arbitration time. So you actually can build over 7-8 years. NFL is more like the NBA - you don't control a player nearly as long and contracts are all 5 years or less. So if your rebuild takes 5 years, most of your roster will turn over.
Me personally? I’m a build the defense guy, just because of his size. If Young was over 6’ and 215 lbs he would be no doubt no brainer number 1. Or even elite athleticism. I am legitimately scared of his size, even as smart and nimble as he is. He’s going to be hit, it’s inevitable
Um, he was talking about Bryce young and the Georgia defense from 2 years ago he lit up for 500 yards. In the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP
5 years for your QB and then you can re-sign him and remain a contender for another 2-3 yrs, so the 7-8 years before the QB starts eating up too much of the cap. So the timeframe is comparable to the MLB timeframe. What I dont understand is why teams are ruining their chances to win championships by paying QB's like Rodgers got paid? After 7-8 years teams should move on from QB's just like the Stros did with Springer/Correa etc... draft another QB with the draft capital they get from trading their QB and keeping their championship window open longer. This is what the Seahawks are currently doing and it's working out pretty well for them. I expect them to re-sign Geno to a 3 year deal or atleast they can get out of the deal in 3 years and draft another QB in the 2024 draft. this is what I hope the Texans will do, sign Jimmy G to a 3 year deal and draft a QB in 2024.
The best version of Levis is a championship level QB. Do I think the Texans can develop him to the point where he's an elite QB? Nope So pass on Levis at 1-2.
All g, I lean toward what you are saying as well, because at his height you would have to be Vick tier freak athlete to be drafted that high in my book, but Young gives me Brees vibes and we all know how great he ended up being but its clearly a major gamble as with any selection drafted this high But since they need pretty much everything in this rebuild I say build the trenches on both sides starting with Defense
Explain to me why Levis is ANY Good? There are alot of college QBs that come out with Big Arms. Explain to me why he is different? I don't see it. The best versions of Stroud and Young are championship level QBs. They have shown it against the Best defenses in college football in PLAYOFF and Conference title games. Levis struggled against Vanderbilt.
You said it. These guys think like the worse franchises in sports and then fans wonder what's going on lol
