Football is won in the trenches. The Texans made some commitments to shore up the trenches on both sides. Offensive linemen and defensive linemen keep teams in the game; and your top tier QB’s get you over the goal line.

I toyed with the idea of Anderson with 2 and taking Carter at 12 if he slipped that far. But as things progressed, it became obvious Carter wouldn't be there at 12 so moving up for Carter became the plan.

I never thought we'd take a QB with what was supposed to be several better in 2024. Though I know QBs are getting outrageous premiums for the position, I have never agreed with taking an inferior QB over a superior player just because he is a QB.

But I am pleasantly surprised with what we have with C J. who has been far better than the pre-draft analysis and still glad we moved up for Anderson.

It really isn't. I remember the year before peyton got to denver they led the league is allowed sacks. When he got there they were near the top of least allowed.

You need a good QB or a really good defense. A really good defense usually costs too much so the best way to stay good for a while is get a good qb.

I think once Stroud started playing well no one cared about the trade. As an example, I wasn't happy with the trade mainly cuz I didn't want us to take a QB. Thought we just take WAJ at 2. I wanted will Anderson and like him as a player just thought we might have given up too much if we were bad again this year. Stroud has proved everyone wrong. No one coulda predicted he would be this good. Once that happened this Will Anderson trade became a home run.

It’s my gut feeling that DeMeco fell in love with Will Anderson and really wanted to build his defense around him.

But I think there was a faction which included ownership , that wanted to give the Fans the excitement of an elite QB.

However one of the most amazing trades is that for the #3 pick. As it got both camps exactly whom they wanted. The cost was the 2023 Cleveland first round pick, the Texans 2024 first round pick, the 2nd round pick in 2023, and a 3rd round pick in 2024. Which is palatable.

Arizona got valuable draft capital, DeMeco got his guy in Will Anderson, the upper man at got their franchise QB. And the Texans now have a 7-5 record and are in the hunt for a playoff spot!

Got hates Russell Wilson and let him get sacked.

    Your thoughts, @MadMax?

Seems evident. And by “Got” I assume you mean the Germanic spelling, “Gott” and were actually referring to Oden.

Area 51 is definitely the best nickname for him… he literally was “everywhere”.

4 sacks in the last 5 games. If he can get to 10 he might have a shot at DROY
