Stroud will be fine. The best QB I've seen out of this draft so far though is Aiden O'Connell. That kid has looked amazing for the Raiders. They stole him in the 4th round. Stroud will come along though I'm sure of that.
Cj looked really good. Other then the miscommunication with Dalton, he was great. Based on CJ's reaction too, it looks like Dalton ran the wrong route by the way CJ came up to him after and knowing the 4th and Goal Situation. Accuracy was as advertised and there were multiple pass sets where he went to his 2nd or 3rd receiver quickly with the ball coming out before the receivers break. Deshaun wasn't even doing that this early on! Everything you need is there. The glaring need on this team is WR1......
Tyson Bagent is looking good too. Someone I was banging the table for late in the draft. Really happy with where Stroud is though. Really happy he's on our team.
What surprised was Anthony Richardson not getting a single snap yesterday. Mahomes plays almost every single pre season game
Stroud updated props Td passes : 17.5 (-105) Yards : 3050 (-110) Throw for 4000 yds (+500) Throw for 5000 yds (+5000) MVP (+15,000) Rookie of year (+850) Pass for 400 yds in any game (+100)
I was impressed by the accurate throws. I think he's still going to have trouble processing NFL defenses and going through his reads properly, so that will take time. It would be REALLY helpful if they could get the run game going so he would have less of the load on his shoulders. Hopefully that will be the case.
Considering Belichick has a losing record and is yet to win a playoff game without Brady, I think it's fair to say those are "Brady Rings".
I'm pretty sure he won at least one playoff game prior to Brady, but I get your point and do agree with you that a vast majority of Belichick's "street cred" is attributable to having the best QB of all time for so long.
I don't know, haven't seen enough to evaluate that, but he did have one where he moved through his reads from his TE to a WR (maybe Noah Brown). That was a nice play. His throws seem extremely accurate. I don't know what he'll be yet in the NFL, but I'm confident he has the best targeting ability of any QB the Texans have ever had. He just puts the ball in great spots for his receivers. There were at least two throws where either he or the receiver did not know the route.
I mean. Watch the tape. .20- Reads Coverage(Cover 6) by watching safeties. Quick ball to Nico Collins. First down. (2nd read on play) .31- Dolphins in Zone again. LB watching flats, sees TE who fakes zone run block and leaks out. Covered. Second read- Perfect ball on the move on the sideline. (2nd read on play) .51- Dolphins rush 4, Weakside Backer Blitz free run. Stroud is waiting for his hot to turn his head aka Schultz. He saw it immediately and got the ball out. Fantastic. I JUST WANT TO ADD- Deshaun really struggled with this early on. 1.05- Looks at defense, throws ball way before receiver has broken route to open space. Perfect pass. This is beyond impressive. 1.19- 4th read... in less than two seconds. ball was out in perfect position His last pass of the day, he was free blitzed off the edge..... he evades the rusher. He looked at Brown, went to next read, and then back to Brown on a perfect pass. The only thing that suggest he will struggle is that he is a rookie. He is doing Veteran QB things in preseason game 2. I think he flashed enough that I am less worried about him being a bust if this is the player he is. They just need to get him some talent on the outside.
Question? Calmness or Lack of Confidence? A comment was raised during the game that Stroud does not exude confidence and I took offense to it, because I saw it as him being calm in the pocket, which is a trait I think all QBs need. So, which is it; Calmness or Lack of Confidence?
