That's the odd part. Right after the Ravens game last season, Meco made it clear that the defense was not 'swarm' enough and an exodus followed in March. When it comes to the O line, he stays out of it. Quiet. Who let Mason back in? questions need to be answered. To Do list for Stroud: 1. Be one with check down charlie. A 4 yard gain > 12 yard loss on a sack 2. Throwing the ball away. He played very well. The highest rating you can get without a TD, 95.
Put up a good effort today. I have faith that he’ll get in the lab and work on his craft in the off-season. - pocket awareness - flexibility - trusting his check-downs
Adding a player like Jordan Blue (out of UT) could help with those check downs. Great receiving back with blinding speed.
Huh? I don't see any fumbles on his stats... did he fumble and it get called back and was not an official fumble?? Like none... https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/jaydon-blue-1.html
Stroud played remarkably mistake free and poised given how much pressure he was under. When he takes bad sacks it's often from a free rusher coming at him.
I believe the theory is let the C/IOL focus on DL & pass rushers while QB can focus on LB's and DB's.
It doesn't matter how good you are when your line gives up free blitzers every other down. People complain about "oh, he is holding the ball" What do you expect him to do? Just throw the ball every time a defender comes near? The team is decimated via their weapons. There offensive line is one of the worst in the league in regards to pass blocking. The Offensive scheme does not allow them to audible via the QB. They run what they are going to run. You hear Slowik talk about it all the time in press conferences. They need to completely gut their whole offensive staff. It is ill prepared. Former and current players on twitter last night talking about how bad our WR's route combos are. This is from multiple professionals. The defense is Superbowl ready, right now. If they do nothing during the draft. They are still a top 5 unit. They need two Interior OL. Good ones. They need a TE who isn't a finesse player. They need WR's who can stay healthy. So much need offensively. Stroud was phenomenal for getting sacked 8 times in a have to have it game.
Jayden Daniels has all day to throw and an intelligent play caller. Also his offensive line doesnt make mistakes. Yes he played well but look at the defense he has faced. The Bucs and the depleted Lions.
Yep, but more times than not if the ol does their job the free rusher should come from the outside. A free rusher from the middle of a defense usually means an ol missed an assignment.
