They don't! How many times do you hear of players saying the team that selected them had no contact whatsoever with them prior to the draft. AT BEST a player could be asked about a specific team and whether that team had shown much interest in them. And even then the player would have to want to share that info. Luckily Tank's from Houston and wants to stay in the city. Matter of fact even if a team he was asked about HADN'T had any contact with him, lying about it (and saying they had) could only benefit him by causing us to trade up for him and get him a higher draft slot and more $$$.
Tons of teams tell players they're going to take them. It can gauge their level of excitement, and also show the player they're excited about them to try to build the relationship. But Tank met with numerous teams, so he definitely was told by someone that they would take him in "X-round if he's still there"... Dell told The News-Journal he met with the Cleveland Browns, the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans for top-30 prospect visits, held private workouts with the Buffalo Bills and the Dallas Cowboys and spoke with more than half of the league's franchises in Zoom meetings. Players are told ALL the time that "if you're still on the board, we'll definitely take you". From top-3 guys all the way to undrafted guys. There's quite a few examples of this.
You're missing my point. I'm saying that just because a player hasn't had any contact with said team doesn't mean that or any other team won't draft them. Happens all the time where teams select players they never contacted before the draft. Same way having strong interest in a player doesn't guarantee that player will be selected by said team. Another player might also drop said team had a MUCH higher grade on. So AT BEST the info gleaned from a player would be but a small piece of the puzzle and team specific.
One of the craziest articles, one part of SI has him successful. The other part of SI has him busting and busting doesn't feel good in this case. So basically a rookie Qb entering the league anything goes.
That’s a terrible list. For one, Allen should be no lower than 3. Watson shouldn’t be top 15. Tua, Geno, Jones and Kyler should be higher. And no rookie should be above 28
Nonsense. Deshaun should be #2 or 3. None of the other QBs have done as much with as little as what Deshaun had. Haters are going to hate though.
I must be excited to watch this Texans this year.. I just bought a new bad ass BBQ pit.. Slabs on deck Sundays!
