Is it? Every team runs some version of it at least part of the time. You don't have to use their OL schemes to run their running/passing schemes.
wish we would just run what best fits our players - if Woods can win the slant majority of time then play him in slot and run it 3rd down - same with if Dare is great out back field then run both him and mixon in back and then have them help block and slip we do nothing creative
Bum Phillips thinks our offense is too vanilla When you have Earl ****ing Campbell you can get away with it, until you're in the playoffs and run into a team a bit better than you
Deshaun Watson got the first fully guaranteed bag after being accused of 20+ sexual assaults and this moron is over here talking about race.
Just like no one made Jacksonville give Trevor Lawrence a bag. Both are desperate terrible ran franchises.
Interesting CJ Stat Vs Elite teams this yr (KC, Balt, Det, GB, Min, Buff). 5 tds 8 ints 59% completion with a 1-5 record. Vs rest of schedule 14 tds 4 int 64% completion with a 8-2 record.
Stroud gonna learn from this season can’t get to high can’t get to low in this league he is a young player teachable moments for the offseason
CJ has regressed and the O line and coaching have done him no favors BUT yesterday was on him 100%..............is it a hangover from the Tank injury? He is not setting his feet and is holding the ball too long, as Olsen pointed out the offensive play calling is too predictable, and they know what we're running. This season for all practicality is over, changes need to be made, and hard decisions will need to be had..........I love Demeco and CJ but they have to do better, if CJ plays like this next year.........................well, let's not even go down that road yet
and why the hell can't CJ audible, if they stack 8 in the box and you can't change the play, what are you doing?
No one is talking about how long CJ takes to get the guys out of the huddle. He always get to the line with about 8 secs on the play clock. Which leads to him not having time to read the defense and adjust the protection to pick up a blitz / identify coverages. He’s just going through the motions for the most part. I’ve never seen him make adjustments before the snap. He also needs to get in better shape this offseason. He’s slow af, he has to be more mobile next year. He has to be a leader, he can’t just be a system player. If you see an obvious blitz, call it out. Idk what’s going on with him this year.
For the first time in his post-game interview CJ didn't begin his remarks with thanks and praise to his Lord and Savior, he's mentally and spiritually broken
Oof yeah I'm off the CJ train. His special traits from last year: Reading defenses, quick release, pocket awareness, leadership. Seems like those traits were mostly fluky last year in a season where we were overlooked. Looks lost out there reading defenses. Seems to run into pressure now, can't find pockets of space and holds the ball too long. He still has the quick zip with his arm, but that alone won't cut it. Think he peaks around Kirk Counsins tier.
I don’t really buy this notion that the offensive line is bad. Four out of five starters were injured missed multiple games last year. The offensive line was worse last season. This season is on stroud, he’s clearly rattled and jittery in the pocket. He’s so emotional. Last week was the fourth time he cried since he was drafted.
sad thing is - after Jets game their DL said they knew what Texans OL was going to do and we have made no adjustments - we run the same plays every game, Bobby never makes you say oh snap look at that unless it’s trying to do a halfback pass to CJ inside the 10 on 3rd down
So when our QB is getting hit before he can make a 3 step drop it’s his fault? When the OL has allowed a free rusher on stunts all year it’s his fault? When RBs are not picking up corner blitzes it’s his fault? When it’s 3 and short and all the routes are 8+ yards, when you know your OL has trouble blocking it’s his fault… Got it
No, not all of those... but when he misses the first window his receivers are open its his fault. When he fails to see the blitz coming and doesn't adjust protection schemes to account for it, then it's his fault. When he runs into a sack, it's his fault. When he takes a 10 or 20 yard sack instead of throwing the ball away, it's on him. When he runs out of bounds behind the LOS, taking a sack instead of throwing the ball away, it's on him. When he ignores open receivers only to force a pass intro triple coverage instead... it's on him. When he straight up misses his receivers with inaccurate passes, it's on him. So yeah, the 10% of the time you are talking about isn't on him, the other 90% is
