The Bears defense is a top 5 defense. The Texans offense is still coming together. I'm worried about Mixon.
And if Dell would have made that catch, Akers hadn't fumbled the Texans would have put up 30. The Bears don't give up many points. Slowik did a great job considering he lost Mixon for the second half and how good the Bears defense is. Sometimes you've gotta give the other team credit. Fortunately the Texans defense made more big plays than the Bears defense did. Ryans really impressed me, he went against his tendencies and blitzed more than he ever has. Most guys wouldn't do this.
It’s easy to forget CJ is just 22 and has lots of room for growth. He’s actually younger than Caleb and he’s nearly a year younger than Jayden McDaniels.
CJ is one month older than Caleb but yea still plenty young. Sam Darnold finally hitting his stride at 27 this year with the Vikings, Baker Mayfield last year. As someone that doesn't rely on his athleticism (too much), CJ has a good chance at getting even better.
Darnold definitely won't keep this up IMO. He's played good before in his career but always falls off a cliff eventually. Some people are dreaming his year on the 49ers under Kyle might have "fixed" him but I don't buy it. Darnold has all the physical tools to be a very good NFL QB but he just does stuff that makes you throw you hands up in the air. Vikings fans should enjoy this while it lasts.
I would be really curious if the Texans invest in a Jamar Chase or Garret Wilson if they are “unhappy” in the offseason. Diggs is coming off contract, but the attention CJ gets from his peers is unlike anything we have experienced as an organization before.
These Ohio State guys wishing they could play with CJ...'cept they have to watch a Michigan guy kill it with CJ. Life isn't fair I guess lmao
Oh you’re right, CJ is a month older than Caleb so thanks for correcting me on that. Yes, CJ is still very young and well ahead of schedule and we might only be seeing a glimpse of his full potential.
Crazy how much passing has changed over the last few decades that a 69% completion percentage is good for only 13th in the league.
Slowik has to do a better job in the second half scheming guys open. Bears did a great job blanketing receivers with coverage. I thought CJ played really well.
If Tank catches that ball and Akers doesn't fumble at the goal line, we would have scored over 30 points on the Bears, mainly because our defense was shutting them down. Again, we have lots of room for improvement, it's not like we are playing at our best to get to 2-0, we are actually playing pretty mediocre and that's still good enough to beat teams. It's a good sign, assuming DeMeco can get these guys ready.
