You’re an idiot. I’m as excited as anyone about Stroud, but pump the brakes a little. Im even fine if you want him over Burrow, there’s more time on a rookie deal. But Stroud is not the same type of athlete as Mahomes. It’s ok to be excited and objective.
Broncos were jumping out routes all day yesterday. Texans ran zero double moves. I have to assume they are saving it for later because it called for it multiple times. Tank Dell is special. He was getting a lot of separation when manned up with Surtain. You can tell the Texans were using Tank as more of a decoy. Noah Brown continued to run good routes and understand spacing against Zone. I like that for the future. Metchie was late to adjust to the ball that was placed more upfield. He ran a post and there was a defender semi in the area he was trying to run. I see why Stroud tried to place it more vertical. I have a feeling Metch will turn it up a bit more next time. Metchie has to do a better job of running to create space as opposed to running to it. Stroud lofted that ball for a reason, and it was for Metch to adjust his route. It was a smart throw. Broncos were run blitzing 2nd and long while the Texans were under I formation. Good game plan due to predictability that was on first down. Bobby Slowik has to be better considering CJ is the best passer in the NFL on 1st and 2nd PA shots.
I would give him a B+. Very creative with protection, play design etc. Its borderline elite level. His issue is play predictability on downs. He is forcing the run on first down when he has the best QB in the NFL on first down from play action. Just curious on why that aspect is being ignored.
I wouldn’t say ability-wise he is at Mahomes, at least not yet, but mobility and elusiveness-wise? Absolutely. Both only move to extend the play and they do it about the same. Which is funny since we all said that when comparing their estimated 4.7 40 time. Looks like stroud has the wiggle as well.
Coleridge makes a reference and everyone runs with it. Seen NFL accounts, hated fanbases all use the 'stand on business' reference after Stroud's podium interview,
He is not at Mahomes level in mobility or agility. Y’all gotta stop that. Mahomes is elite movement wise. Stroud might be like Burrow. Solid in straight lines and moves well in the pocket.
Please don't hate me when I say this: My son and I drove up to Arlington for this game. Except for the final result and being surround by obnoxious Cowboys fans, it was an awesome experience. I wish Reliant Stadium rocked as loud as Jerry's World. The noise level, energy and intensity in the stands was insane. Went to the Christmas Eve Eagles' game last year and it was the same, except way louder because it was the Eagles. The Cowboys' loser fans harassed Eagles fans as walking to the game from the parking lots. Not all of it was in good nature.
Sounds like Texans games in the early 2010s. Cowboys were 8-3 and are on a multi-year run of being a pretty good football team so of course the stadium will be rocking.
Wait, when did Mahomes get elite athletically? He runs a 4.7 and can throw sideways but he’s not juking anyone?? You gotta stop within the athleticism equaling skill. No one is saying he is Mahomes or as good as Mahomes, but if you wanna show me where Mahomes moves at an elite level compared to stroud go ahead. I think of Jackson, Richardson, Allen, etc in the elite category. I guess Murray, too? but whatevs…
CJ is now what harden was to Houston a few years ago however I don’t think he’s going to be a headache go Texans
Y’all really try to conflate 40 time with athleticism. Mahomes is a 4.8 guy, but elite short area, agility, “wiggle”. Y’all are not watching football if you don’t see how elusive he is inside and outside the pocket. Stroud is a solid athlete, but he’s not Mahomes. Stroud is not a quick or explosive guy but is solid in the pocket and has good build up speed in straight lines. Straight line speed is not what makes guys elite athletes. Jones ran a 4.8, Allen a 4.75 but they’re explosive in short areas. Stroud is more similar to Burrow. He’s not Mahomes
