I know John McClain feels the Texans would have taken Bryce Young with the #1 pick but Charles Robinson suspects CJ was their guy all along. So much so that they didn’t push back when the rumors started
HOLY ****….I LIKED THIS POST AND THEN UNLIKED IT JUST SO I COULD LIKE IT ALL OVER AGAIN. what a perfect song for it too
Just something I want to point out as I'm reading back through this thread. Remember the first five games or so CJ was killing it over the middle. That Falcons game was the first time I saw a team really try to take the middle of the field away from him. It resulted in his first interception. It also took the Texans two or three games to bounce back from defenses playing that way. This resulted in two losses against teams that we shouldn't have lost against. I'm still frustrated by that. Then all of a sudden, CJ starts lighting up the scoreboard again in these last 2 weeks. Now I don't remember what his heat map look like in last week's win, but when I look at this one I smile. Look at how little he did over the middle versus outside the hashes. That tells me that CJ has adjusted. Especially when you look at that with his numbers from the last 2 weeks. That makes me really excited. You don't see this kind of growth from a rookie quarterback within the season. He was very reliant on quick slants earlier in the season. These last two or three weeks, whether it's him figuring it out, Slowik figuring him out, or both of these things, the goal posts have moved. Now CJ is attacking down the field, being more aggressive, and being less reliant on quick hitters over the middle. I love to see it. I'm so excited for this team. I tried to quit this team two years in a row. And now I'm back in, probably more than I ever have been. I can't wait to see what happens the rest of the year, but I also can't wait to see what kind of free agents we attract. This team is going to do big things starting next year.
I just want to point out the line, starters or backups, have begun to get the reps needed for routes taking more than 2.5 seconds. Plus, CJ is extending the plays beyond even his protection in the pocket. It's not just CJ, but it couldn't be done without him.
I thought Dell was terrible outside of his touchdown. Multiple drops, slipping/falling off on routes. He looked like a first rounder on Sunday as compared to a star receiver whose played in the NFL for years.
CJ #1 QB in NFL? CJ for MVP? "Generational" .. "Franchise Savior" .. "HOF" .. "GOAT" If any team deserves this its us. Its almost like a dream.
I heard Peter King say last night that CJ is #1 against the blitz. He thought that was crazy for a rookie and couldn’t believe the reports about CJ saying he couldn’t process things.
Since Sullivan is only offering free breakdowns of bum Qbs like Bagent and Herbert, I've gone strictly to Chase Daniels' breakdowns. Chase will eventually realize that 3 million people in H town, another 1 million scattered around Texas, 11 million in the state of Ohio and 20 million across the U.S are fiending for Stroud tapes. Enjoy them while they last for free.
Actually, you DO see similar growth from successful rookie QBs during a season, it's just that (so far) CJ is better than all previous rookies in NFL history. His TD/INT ratio and 3rd down stats are insane. I'll say this again: I hope he sees all there is to see from defenses this season because he continues conquering every new defensive scheme thrown at him. This is the fastest way for him to become a complete and mature QB.
