Hopefully we have some this year. They can really increase playoff odds if they can go out and surprise CINCY. Think they can do it, if they let Stroud play like he did against the Bucs. Passing on first down should be the norm.
I watched it. *Loved our tackles *Thinks our interior OL was not very good *Thought CJ was a little Peyton Manning ish footwork wise in the first half, which caused the off throws *Stroud's base when throwing is second to none, his release is considered perfect *Did not like run schemes the Texans had * Repeatedly Blown away by CJ's anticipation and accuracy * Loved how aggressive the Texans were on first down, said this a LOT * Nico's drop on the slant was a house call. Thought it was a bad throw until endzone view in which he said how perfect it was * Impressed with CJ's mobility *Mentioned a few times about Dell's speed and route running in a positive way *Felt CJ was always going to the right place with the ball Pretty incredible review.
We were coming off a pretty big let down game vs CAR and looked like crap. If CJ would have had his signature game last week vs Bryce I think they would have flexed the game. Timing was not on our side. Thanks Slowik!! (JK -- kinda). Next year Im thinking we'll be on Primetime 2-3 times at minimum.
If the Texans stay in the playoff hunt, that Dec. 24 game against Cleveland is a prime flex game candidate: two playoff teams; the Watson storyline + scheduled game is NE v DEV, so that game is DEFINITELY getting flexed. I was going to suggest Dec. 10 @ Jets - but they're not flexing PHI/DAL out of primetime and BUF/KC have the late afternoon slot locked down. But Rodgers possibly coming back that week would put a big spotlight on that game...
Where are all the “ Draftniks” who had their charts out on draft night saying that the Texans were fools for picking Stroud and trading up for Will Anderson. Also that the Cardinals were set and going to have the first 2 picks of the 2024 draft……yada, yada, yada. You don’t even hear from those jazzholes anymore. Here we are now Stroud is a hot commodity and Anderson has been solid and the Texans are contenders for the division. What a nice season it has been so far. Happy for Texans fans.
The game against the Bengals this Sunday will essentially be the noon prime time game and have the A list commentators (so Nantz and Romo). It'll be on in every market that doesn't have their home team playing on CBS during that slot.
Man, just watched the game again, because... SO good. Just as an FYI, in the game against Carolina, if the Texans had any bit of time left, I really think that CJ could have put us in a position to win the game. He has already shown that he has the ability to execute a 2 min drive really well several times this season. Everything about this kid (his play, poise, interviews and skill level) is just special. We should continue to enjoy this goodness because we really needed this as a city from our football team. Finally, what the Caserio and Ryan's Era is showing us is sometimes a good player can be great when put in the right system. We just lucked out to be able to see it so soon with our rookie QB. Lets continue to keep building this strong foundation - Go Texans.
I'm still here! I love Will Anderson - but Caserio overpaid, a hallmark of his regime (giving away assets). As I said at the time: we really won't feel this until next April. Having said that, the Texans moving up into the middle-round has made the deal a little easier to swallow. But... that was a gamble I wouldn't have taken in April.
Texans defense yards per carry 2022- 5.1 Texans defense yards per carry 2023- 3.5 Texans PPG 2022- 24.7 Texans PPG 2023- 20.6 Huge improvement and I think Anderson has a big part of that. Caserio has done a great job.
I'm starting to think with Stroud at QB that a true #1 WR in the 2024 draft isn't needed in comparison to other positions. It's not crazy to think he could be a Brady or Rodgers and work with what they have and elevate the WRs. I'd be okay with using Cleveland's FRP on a CB, DE, DT, LB or TE.
I don't think its a need. Looks like Tank may end up being a True 1 as compared to Collins who I would call a solid 2. Tank can run any route and separate on all of them.
Wish they would make him a throwback one instead of these. An we really going to make Stroud watch a beatdown the Rockets will give the Lakers. Cold blooded, Matt.
