Skills Challenge: Team Antetokounmpo: Giannis, Thanasis, Alex Team Utah: Jordan Clarkson, Collin Sexton, Walker Kessler Rookies: Paolo Banchero, Jabari Smith Jr., Jaden Ivey Dunk: Jericho Sims, Mac McClung, Trey Murphy III, KJ Martin 3pt: Jayson Tatum, Kevin Huerter, Tyler Herro, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, Lauri Markkanen
I'm not sure you ever checked out Sims and McClung, they are the best candidates since Gordon&LaVine probably based on what they have shown with practice dunks&hops. People just bash this list because they don't know the players well.
Trash waiting for the contest. I knew both players coming in before college at Georgetown and UT. Stop assuming I don’t know who they are. They’ll stink. List is basically bottom barrel terrible any player can make a online vid of dunks. Doesn’t mean much at all.
everything i've seen thus far in their careers. not once did they ever make me want to see them in a dunk contest and once the contest is over they'll just confirm the snoozefest
I mean maybe you followed McClung's games in HS but absolutely none of his dunk contests (which he won), otherwise I can't explain how out of your a** you're talking on this. The guy did literally all the dunks LaVine and Gordon did (behind the back windmill, under the chair, 360 through the leg, reverses) in contests successfully and you are talking this gibberish.
Lol he literally did all the dunks they did in the video I linked and you continue to talk nonsense. Just admit that you've never watched him outside of league games and move on, this is stupid.
oh really. you mean players don't have dunk vids in an empty gym all across the world. Who tf cares. Keep that same energy saturday when the contest is a snoozefest. but but but he has a youtube vid of his dunks. foh it is stupid. you're doing the stupid part
What exactly is your evaluation of whether someone will be good in a dunk contest, if according to this abomination of a conversation their performances in previous dunk contests don't count? This is the shittiest attempt at not wanting to backpedal I've ever seen, and you saying empty gym makes me think you didn't even watch the video, as half of the dunks were in official dunk contests.
backpedal hahahahhaha. there's nothing to backpedal. everything I said will literally be proven saturday. then you're going to come back with the but but i saw vids of him dunking on youtube in open gyms. keep that same energy later this week. I certainly will
Sharpe can get way up, but he's got no flair from what i've seen. Don't really care for the ones that can jump super high but barely do anything mid air. Gerald Green/James White. Maybe he will be more LaVine like, but even Lavine is too stiff for my taste. Which means KJ is not going to impress me. He's strictly stiff verticality with no body movement. Snooze. Simms is just a big guy with hops like Dwight. Big dunkers just don't look good. May need to resort to lame showmanship. I hate that crap. (Except PG13's TRON Dunk. Bad ass idea, weak execution.) Mac is going to be your cookie cutter dunker, but b/c he's short and white, everyone going to get hype for it. Trey Murphy III reminds me of the worst dunk contest winner ever - Jeremy Evans. Some guy who is going to win by default b/c all the others just keep missing their dunks lol. Man there's some guys who won that i completely forgot even competed. Lots of guys been choking under the lights. One guy fails, the next guy comes up with all eyes on him...miss the first dunk..start to sweat..miss the 2nd...and so on. The dunk contest just doesn't matter anymore for star power. That's why i give Jalen a pass. He looked really good missing, but he just didn't care or want it. I thought it was going to be his big lift off moment, but the moment came and went with people laughing him off the court and then he didn't want to even redeem himself this year. Times have changed and that competitive fire of old that used to pin stars vs each other or vs a legacy dunker that came before in these contests is long over. Think about it...why do we want to watch scrubs or role players compete in the dunk contest when there's insane amateur dunk contests we can watch 10x more impressive on youtube? People tuned it for All-Star contestants. Didn't matter if there's some gleague scrub that can do 360 between the legs, he's a nobody and we can see nobodies on youtube or AND1 mixtapes back in the day whenever we want....We want to see the battle of somebodies and stars.
