    It happens.

My oldest was off the chart from adolescence. He was far bigger than most pro athletes before finishing H school. Unfortunately, he wasn't interested in sports. He settled on a career as a paramedic and Fire Captain though he's now in pre-med. But he's shrunk from 6'8" by an inch now.

    ps 6'8" and 320 isn't really fat.

My son graduated HS at about 6'5" and about 300 with a size 16 shoe. His prom tux was a 54 XL.

The football coach was on him all 4 years but he had no interest. Video games, video games, video games.

He is 28 now and up to about 350.

But he also has his dream job.

He supervises a team for Activision Blizzard testing video games before they are released. His name even appears in the credits LOL

He and his team are currently working on "Diablo 4" getting ready for release later this year.

It's great seeing your child actually living his/her dream.

I could be totally wrong here and just have weird deja vu.. but did you hint at your son being on a new video game release a while back? And you couldn’t tell us the name of the game? Am I making this up? Either way that’s really cool he found a job doing something he loves!

Yes. I wasn't able to say at the time.

My son is heading up the testing for Diablo 4 scheduled for release later this year.

He supervises a team and they have been playing the game and putting it through its paces for several months looking for and trying to cause glitches in addition to making suggestions for potential improvements.

It's pretty awesome when your son has his dream job.

The last Costa Rican in the Astros system was Bryan Solano, a pitcher who topped out with two stints in the GCL/FCL in 2018 and 2021.

The Astros also purchased the rights to Jesus Carrera from Monterrey in the Mexican League last week.

I don't know, but I seem to remember him trying to come out last year and he wasn't eligible for the international draft if it's the same player. If so, he's been on our radar for at least a couple of years.

    Hopefully someone can confirm this.

I think this is Camilo Diaz and he turned 17 too late to be drafted last year. I also seem to remember new draft rules limiting the age for a team to sign an international player.

But my memory is suspect at best.

175 sure looks hella conservative to me if he's 6'6.

Yeah that’s Framber so kid is at least 6’4” but 6’5” or 6’6” is totally reasonable. No way he’s only 175. Minimum 190.

Honestly, I would expect that appearance if he were 6'6" and 275.

    6'6" and 175 would be a skeleton.

I'm pretty sure they've been seeding the Cuban Market for awhile.

It is interesting that both of Houston’s big bonus signees are older guys; Rives will play at 19 and Hernandez will play at 21 next season. It would be great if they were deemed worthy of getting stateside and into full season ball this year.
