Should we maybe be rooting for BKN to win ? What would we rather have , bkn in the lottery and giving us an extra 1% chance at Victor ( but then they get a top 5 pick ) or bkn being mediocre and not having the chance to add a premium talent in the draft ?
Man, think of how exciting the draft lotto night is going to be if the Nets and Clippers both fall into the lottery. That would be unreal.
How awesome would it be if we ended up with the #3-5 but Brooklyn got the #1 to swap lol And the Clippers get the #2 for us lololol "Rockets, who you got in the draft... Wemby or Scoot?" "BOTH!"
Imo clippers is all gravy. Hopefully they don't get a top 4 Anywhoo I am hesitant to root for bkn to lose . I don't think the extra 1% of Victor is enough to discount that the bets would be adding a premium asset The value of the deal imo is still next years pick , the swap after that , and the pick after that . If they get a top 4/5 pick in this draft along with the assets they got for Durant then I don't think those assets will be as good for us
I thought we had a bottom 3 record pretty much secured and we can afford to win every now and then, no?
Depends on how you feel about worst case scenarios .... worst record means falling no further than 5th. Dropping to #2 or #3 means a worst case of #6 or #7. Wins are meaningless .... they have no positive impact but do have potential negative impact. May as well stay #1.
I know, so sad we've gotten ourselves into this position. Teams that are just as bad and have every incentive to tank just as hard (minimize downside ) still manage to have more wins than us. I would trade 20% of being 5 for %20 of being 6 if the wins we got were meaningful . But I think that window has passed. 2-3 wins vs playoff teams that are playing hard would be nice . I'm not sure 2-3 wins is enough to justify a 20% chance of falling to 6
I believe we get the worse of LAC and OKC draft pick with the Clippers pick protected 1-6. If the Clippers pick is 1-6 then I’m not sure what we get.
It may be wrong but i read previously that if clippers ends up top 6 the rockets get the thunder pick instead as long as it is not top 6.
Clippers struggling after acquiring Westbrook was about as likely as the Rockets losing yet another game Paul George was the main one advocating for Westbrook…he has to be the biggest idiot in the NBA Getting catfished once by Westbrook? Ok. But twice?
So the Clippers traded to get better and they had a clause just in case they didn't even make the playoffs this year? I know that's smart just in case but that also shows the lack of confidence in their team.
Maybe my brain isn't working, but under what conditions does OKC get the Clippers pick? I thought originally if it's top 6 we simply end up with Bucks pick and lose out on Clippers pick. But, as long as Clippers finish with a better pick than Bucks we get to swap Bucks for Clippers. Where does OKC fit in here?
From realgm "2023 first round draft pick from Milwaukee, L.A. Clippers or Oklahoma City Houston has the right to swap Milwaukee's 2023 1st round pick for the less favorable of the L.A. Clippers' 2023 1st round pick protected for selections 1-6 and Oklahoma City's 2023 1st round pick [Houston-Milwaukee, 3/19/2021; Houston-L.A. Clippers-Memphis, 2/9/2023]" So I guess if Clippers finish 1-6 Clippers keep the pick If Clippers get ... say 7th and OKC gets 9th then OKC has the rights to the 7th, we get 9th, Clippers get the Bucks pick? If OKC gets 7th, Clippers get 9th then we simply swap with Clippers Am I interpreting that correct?
I can understand why you're so concerned. The guys we've picked at #2 and #3 the last two years are making it very hard for us to lose. I'm amazed we're pulling it off.
